I'm a newbie
Proposed new leisure battery too tall for battery box and as it's LiFePO4 I know it can be turned on it's side.

Problem is the underfloor battery box fitted to our Autograph is H shaped, so won't fit on it's side either, might fit across under the retaining strap, but will mean major mods to (proposed new) wiring.

Was going to use a :- ROAMER 100SMART2 (12V 100AH) LITHIUM LEISURE BATTERY but its 220mm high and box is 210mm high.

Any recommendations for a LiFePO4 that would fit a 210w x 370l x 210h battery box at a reasonable price (original is 957-51 size lead/acid). Preferably one which I can get now (as the above is pre order for Jan 2023 delivery).

Present battery is f***ed and do not wan't to use trailer (leisure) battery as that is too tall also, MH not being used but upgraded are being done as time and weather permit, so need some reliable power, not EHU as lead will be a trip hazard or just get wrecked by SWMBO or the builder's sorry bathroom fitters

Get roamer to make one to your size that's what I did

The height is a bit of a problem and reduces choice (I have just had this problem looking for a couple of Lithiums for a height-challenged battery stack in a Knaus).

This is what I have ended up going with - https://www.alpha-batteries.co.uk/1...-low-height-lithium-lifepo4-battery-prlr100d/

If you can run to a bigger budget, the SubZero model has Bluetooth BMS and internal heaters and would just scrape into your battery box once you remember to add a few mm for the terminal studs - https://www.alpha-batteries.co.uk/1...um-lifepo4-battery-with-bluetooth-monitoring/

Fogstar 105ah is 209mm high.
You do have to add the terminals in for the final height though, so 209+terminals will be too high if it is a hard and fast 210mm (I fitted a pair of Lithiums in a Ford Transit and had to cut the lugs off the post terminals to allow them to fit! )

No terminals 8mm thread but not sure if the include the head of the bolts they supply.

They won't have if they measure the batteries like every other battery seller. (When I said terminals, I include bolts in that description - Post Terminals for the old fashioned boxes, Bolt Terminals for the new style boxes).

One comment and possibly slightly pendantic, but still important ... Not all LiFePO4 batteries CAN be layed on their side (it depends on their cell type and internal supports).
It is certainly not common to have that limitation, but you do come across the odd one that states they must not be, and others that don't implicitly state they must not, but do say they *should* not as not been tested (so doing so and having a problem could void a warranty). Some of the Victron Lithiums are in this category.
So unlikely to have an issue, but if anyone is buying with that intention, best to check with the supplier to avoid a potential expensive mistake.

As you are only looking for another 10mm of clearance, what is the construction of the box. Is it a plastic box? What is the top made of? What is the bottom made of?
Could the top be spaced or made of thinner material?
Just trying to get an idea of the problem, perhaps a couple of photos would help.

Plastic box, but wood floor panel on top, so cannot do anything as it's in the middle of the floor.

I'll post photos to show problem.

Did you look at the two KS ones I linked to earlier? (post #10) their dimensions will fit in with your quoted space, and reasonably priced for a quality battery.

Do you actually need to put the LifePO4 type Lithium into a battery box?

Lead acid goes into a box partly incase it's casing gets damaged so the liquid has a secondary casing against the spillage. It also means the box can in theory be vented from a hose rather than into the vehicle.. You won't need that with the Lithium.

What you do need to do is ensure the battery is restrained against movement, but that might be as simple as a good belt that is properly anchored. Of course you also need to protect the battery terminals and any contacts from an accidental metal contact, but there are plenty of terminal covers available for that.

When my Lithium was fitted by Vanbitz it was relocated at the same time from one bench seat to another - great as it freed up the very limited storage I had, and no battery box was used. The arrangement has passed two habitation checks since, carried out by others.

That is the same shape and size as the KS Energy low profile battery I have suggested. They advertise on MHF and offer a 10% Funsters discount.

Hi
I see that the lid is not adaptable but wonder about the bottom. It looks like a tray in the bottom, if so, what is under the tray? as you are only looking for 10mm.
