This is ( was ! ) a Honda Blackbird

The rear end is just about done now apart from tweeks and clean ups
Single sided swing arm mounted and rising rate brackets altered to suit

I could not find a master cylinder fluid pot that I liked to I tuned one up on the lathe

The top is not pushed down in the pic ) to show the o ring position )

In an age of truly grotesque silencers that's a neat one.

But how do you check the brake fluid level ?

Why would I want to ! ?
In 20 years of Bird ownership I have never had brake fluid run low :-)

Its just a matter of making the volume of the pot greater than that of the three pistons..
That way no matter how skanky the pads get there will always be enough fluid

More pics please:)

How does your MC cope with fluid level changes?
Which SS swinging arm did you use?

Yes no problem as the reservoir is effectively a remote unit that is connected to the MC by pipe

Sorry ! I missed a bit

The swing arm is from a yank Honda Interceptor.. Its a version of the pre VTEC 800 VFR

I forgot to say.. The link pipe is courtesy of a firm that makes milking machines..
They were one of the few who not only had the correct size pipe and could weld it, but also had the correct grade of stainless too :-)

If you use a long enough piece of clear pipe , you don't even need a reservoir. Nothing saves weight more than not having it in the first place.

Very true.. I first saw it done at a bike show in Newmarket,, TZR owned and built by a young lady.. Both she and the bike were gorgeous !

But not for me.. I could not polish a bit of plastic pipe !!

Here are some pics of how I bought the bike

The chap it was brought from had bought another Bird, of later vintage
He had left this poor thing in the garden under a hedge.. It was more green than red !!!

But I knew full well what I was buying :-) Paid £500 for it

I shall post some more pics of work done and progress when I get back :-)

Welllllll maybe 2 1/2 times any way :-)
I still have about 5 10ft x 2ft shelves full of Bird spare... couple of cabinets full, and countless odds and sods
Once this one is finished I am gonna give away the rest....Swing arms, wheels, fork legs, disks, at least 5 tanks, blah blah blah

After 17 years of running two firms dealing exclusively with the XX, I reckon I have had enough of them now :-)
