Hi all.
Having a problem with the habitation door lock on our Knaus Sun Ti 650 (2018) in that it won’t lock from the inside. It’s ok locking with key from the outside but when inside the locking handle won’t stay in the lock position and the lock is not being fully engaged when trying to move it to this position. Has anyone else experienced this and any suggestions for resolving? Many thanks for all and any replies.

It is most likely a broken spring or rod in the mechinisum, you may be lucky and just need some adjustment of nylon guides (I was).
I expect its a Hartal door they are diabolical particularly the lock mechinisum.

If you are lucky you will have a cover over the lock area that can be removed if not you will have to remove the inner door skin, it's a pig of a job as it is just sprung into place.

Afraid you are going to have to remove the cover/skin to see what's wrong, no quick solution.

I had Dethleffs with a broken spring. Had to strip everythin down for a 2 pence spring.
I have to agree with Lenny, just grit your teeth.

Make sure you take the key out in the vertical position when locking or unlocking from the outside, if you take it out in the horizontal position it can cause this. Worth a try before stripping the lock.

Thank you. This has also been advised to me elsewhere and, so far, has appeared to do the trick. A quirk of the vehicle no doubt, but a very useful bit of advice for anyone else facing a similar issue. Cheers😊

I found the best way to get panel off is to get the long side out first as you have more to bend but as Lenny HB said it’s a pig😊🤞good luck mate🤞

Can anyone help Jimmy with his door?
The Knaus habitation door lock has 4 springs.

3 are prone to breaking, and that's from experience!

The symptoms you mention are most likely one of 2 broken springs.

The simple one is a small coil spring on the top right which acts to pull the sliding mechanism back into place towards the right hand side.

See the photo showing part of the spring still coiled around the post.

It is an easy fix, either by rebending the broken end of the spring around the restraing post (which is what I did) or make a new spring from off-the-shelf coil spring from a major hardware store.

The next culprit is a coil spring at the top left.

Mine broke mid-point of the loop around the restraining post so I visited a major hardware store, bought a metre of appropriately thick coil spring (they only sold it in 1 metre lengths) and cut off about 30mm, then using the broken spring as a template, bent a new one which works perfectly.

The 3rd culprit is shown with a red circle around it.

Mine broke while touring Africa for 7 months and when I arrived home to make one, I found I'd lost the bits.

So, I'm trying to find where I can buy one since Knaus have not answered my 2 email requests, and my dealer days the only solution is a new lock at €295 😩

Hope this helps 🙏

Hi, I tried to send a reply but looks like only the photos went through and not the text.

3 springs are prone to break.

The small one at the top right is an easy fix, I just bent a new loop at the end and refastened it around the restraining post.

The top left spring broke in the middle so I made another from coil spring purchased at a major hardware supplier.

The lower centre spring broke (see highlighted in the red circle) but I lost the bits somewhere along the way in my 7 month travels through Africa.

So I don't have the bits to make a copy.

I've sent 2 emails to Knaus without reply.

My local dealer says the only solution is a new door lock at €295 😩

If anyone knows where to buy one of these I'd much appreciate it
