If like me the thought of changing a wheel after a ‘flat tyre’ on your Motorhome is anything but appealing, you might be interested in this simple aid. Those getting older, have mobility problems etc and who find lifting the new wheel onto the hub a difficult task may find this a great help.I have always said that I would just call the breakdown service to do it - but when touring abroad that is not always the easiest of options. This might give you another option.

I bought one and it is certainly worth having - cheap and easy to carry/store.

I have no link or connection to the product - this is a personal viewpoint which I thought worth sharing.

I think most on here would have that covered under brakedown cover and simply make a phone call.

The last time I took one of my wheels off, I can distinctly remember thinking, when trying to put it back on, I must be getting older, as this wheel is getting more difficult to hold up in the correct position. I will definately be getting one. Anything that makes things a bit easier👍👍👍

Pity it's not a standard M14 x 2mm thread, you can buy a 100mm long one of those for about 70 pence, then just cut the head off it !
Edit, just had a search for M14 x 1.5 pitch and a 100mm long bolt is just over £2, not a bad saving if you can handle a hacksaw or more likely a cordless angle grinder these days ?

Standard oe in my suzuki tool kit :)

With this tool you need to align one bolt hole with the pin, but the hub has centring spigot on it. which is bigger and easier to locate onto, that takes the weight, then rotate until the bolt holes align. Can’t see how a pin sticking out makes it easier.

But if it’s dark???

When changing a wheel on my concrete driveI I would roughly position the wheel and then use a garden spade under the wheel to slightly rotate/elevate to location pins before fitting bolts using an extended socket.

If it’s dark use a light.
I can’t see how finding a 15mm hole is easier than finding a 60mm hole??

(sizes are approximate)
I get that but it’s easier to put a wheel on when you’re hanging it on studs than finding holes to put studs in, imho. Then again I’m fairly young and fit enough to still Chuck HGV wheels on👍

I was thinking "if you can't get the wheel back on you most likely won't be changing it in the first place" I have never had a problem with ours and find that as long as the tyre is just off the floor when you take the wheel off it goes back on easy enough.

when I had the RV with heavy 22in wheels .. I used a garden spade slid under the tyre as a lever to align the hole with the stud .. no way could you possibly lift it without the spade

So am I, and having been a tyre fitter, don’t see the need to add other items to a simple job, but each to their own. 👍🏻👍🏻

You still have to lift the wheel and move it around until a hole lines up with the pin.
Much easier to lower the jack until the hub and pin are at equal height

I wouldnt do that job for a gold pig, big wheels= a bar in each hand to turn/jiggle the wheel till it lines up, then on it goes👍👍

I still have a metre long truck tyre lever, somewhere! 🤔

Don't tell me people carry garden spades in the van anorl
Everything should have two uses.

When the cassette is full, you can take the spade into the woods :whistle2:
Useful for buying dead bodies too .... >:)
