Personalised registrations seem to be mandatory in North Wales... Don't see the point myself but each to his own
No it’s yours.Thinking of one.
but bit like changing from apple to android.
can i really do it?
and if the vehicle is written off , does the insurance company own the number plate?
Good point about ownership of the number plate in the event of a write off. Got me worried now, not that I’m intending to write it off. I suppose it’d be okay if the insurers added the value of the plate to any settlement.Thinking of one.

One advantage of a personalised plate on the motorhome is that I don't have to keep changing my 'Dart charge' registration as the number is always the same.
This generally only applies when it's safe to go to la belle France.
My old girl has the following which cost her £700 or £800. She’s been offered more than 10x that on more than one occasion. It was originally in the same font as the manufacturer but DVLA letter with the threat of withdrawal put pay to that.

When insuring you need to notify them that the number plate has a value of £xxxxxxxxxxx which needs to be included in the vehicle valuation in the event that any unforeseen reason meaning that you are unable to retain or transfer it from the right off/stolen vehicle to another you own.Good point about ownership of the number plate in the event of a write off. I think its trying to say Porsche, it is on one...Problem is they still require the make & model to correspond with the number?
As an afficianado even I am struggling with this one. ? Go on gives me a clue?

You also need to advise them that you own the plate & at no time will it ever be classed as part of the vehicle.
I sold my first number plate VAN 11 in 1971. If it had been the other way around I could have retired.
Sold the one off the vehicle I came out here in 18 years ago.
The plate and car are two separate things you can’t loose a plate, unless you sell the car with it on that car, in case of an accident you can just put the plate on retention unless you are incapacitated, then it doesn’t matterGood point about ownership of the number plate in the event of a write off. Interesting point - in fact you don't ever 'own' a UK vehicle registration - DVLA owns them all!Good point about ownership of the number plate in the event of a write off. You effectively have a licence/permission from DVLA to 'display' a particular registration on your vehicle.
In theory, DVLA could decide to withdraw any registration it chooses. However, I'm unaware of any specific examples of it having done so, after the registration has been issued - but I believe it may have happened on rare occasion.
I pass them regularly - Aston and Range Rover.Personalised registrations seem to be mandatory in North Wales... Don't see the point myself but each to his own
I used to teach Bentley apprentice mechanics and on my journey to see my students at Jack Barclay Bentley in Battersea I used to pass a parking space on the Thames embankment with two cars which had the registrations "2 B' and "NOT 2B".... The double parking space probably cost more than my house....
They had an Aston and a Bentley Arnage when I used to see them...I pass them regularly - Aston and Range Rover.
Haven't seen the Bentley for some time...They had an Aston and a Bentley Arnage when I used to see them...
We thought that but thieving bast@@s still stole the mh off the drive in 2018with private plate, thank god we had a tracker and now a van blitz growler IF they ever come backHave one on a 2019 car which is attractive to thieves but by de-badging and putting an 04 obscure personal reg on the car it can sit anywhere without undue attention.
Conversely no one knows the age of my van.
Try F1 it was owned by Essex county council, it could be seen on the Mayors Car it was sold for £440,000from google, To date the most expensive number plate ever sold was the '25 0' plate which was sold for £400,000 in November 2014.
