Private, Personalised, Cherished Number plate.....yes or No.

We had T5 on the T5 when we had a T5, but the paperwork now loiters around waiting for a buyer.. . It was fun at the time.
Don’t think we are looking for a GRR, although GRR seems like the sort of thing I mutter when struggling uphill - lol

In have OIL 4793 on our moho, had the number for 22 years, got it from my wife as a 47th birthday present, was working offshore Dubai at the time !
Worked over 30 years North sea or middle east, so was apt! been retired past 16 years.
Bought a RIG **** to put on my Volvo so now I have OIL RIG on my drive !!
love them both.

I advertised a personalised number plate JEF 11R on here a couple of days ago, and although I have had no actual replies to my advert, there have been endless responses to the pros and cons of them and so rather than ignore the massive interest there seems to be on the subject I thought it only appropriate to open a specific thread ? to enable the wider Motorhome community to contribute?

It’s seems that some funsters like the idea of the numberplate W4 NKA, perhaps there might be even more interesting and appropriate (or even inappropriate) numbers.

Have fun people........and keep smiling ??????????☺?????
Maybe the only reason they have not bought the mentioned reg number is because one of their close friends beat them to it ?
You have what makes you happy and it matters not what some think we are all individuals.?

I knew a guy called Stan Penny, he had the reg PEN 1S:unsure:

In France i saw a really tatty looking caravan being towed by an old and slightly tatty car with the registration, HRH 1.
I Thought one of the royals had decided to slum it. ?
Can't imagine what that would be worth to those that buy numbers.
I doubt it was a tatty car or caravan....
In 2009 the plate HRH 1 sold at auction for £113,000 Inc tax and fees.
It will be worth considerably more 10 years on.

It was originally issued to a Hull driver in 1946.
I bet his kids wish they still had it.

I've had a personalised number on my old Espace for 20 years, although back on there again it's been switched to other motors in intervening years. The van and another car have consecutive personal plates too. Love being naff!

Neighbour down from me has HM3 on an old Suzuki Jimny, she's told me has had it for 70 years !!

In the 50s my uncle had the number PKT2 on a wreck of a hillman he advertised it in the Times and sold the logbook within a week the guy turned up in a rolls with a bundle of cash

The only thing I dont like is illegal number plates some personal plates are funny and some I think are pointless

This number plate has been owned by a motorbike racer for many, many years. His name is Steve Parrish, not Stan Penny.

My rule of thumb with ‘vanity plates’ as my dad calls them are as follows;

If you have to use mid-spaced letters, weird fonts, or black number plate bolts to make up extra letters it’s crap. Even worse if you have to put an explanation of what it says in tiny font at the bottom of the plate.

I know of some absolute crackers though, particularly an old colleague called Neil Batt who had the number plate N8 ATT on his car. Another friend had A10 ANM on a mk 1 Golf GTi. He was called Aidan McAuley.

Ultimately its your own money so spend it how you want. As long as you are having fun!

Xx

I seem to remember many years a go when I lived in Grimsby, my mates dad who was the mayor of Grimsby I think having the plate FU 2 on his car. I believe it has since been taken out.

Had mine for years and it's been on a fair few different vans and cars. Currently on my campervan. It makes it easy to remember, so many places now you need to enter the reg when parking..

The original poster posted the number plate W4NKA.

This plate or similar is in existance. There is a long time funster on here who has a specific type of dog.
This particular dog when breeding can be quite dangerous due to the risks of suffocating.

Therefore there is a specialist dog breeder who comes to your house. and does the business of what the number plate suggests in order to keep the dog safe.

and he has this number plate.

I remember Fiona Richmond having it on her Jag.

german with a sense of humour.

Is that rant about personalised plates?

I have 3 of them. Primarily to take the age off my vehicles, also they are sequential which I like.

£250 a piece.

Naff? Common as muck? Steady on!
Same as us our vehicles all have a personal plate. the last three letters are all the same (relevant to us but others may not guess it) the first two or three are vehicle related. It’s just a bit of Fun really.
