Our little T@b caravan was picked up by the new owners on last Saturday :( but on the upside we pickup "Wandering Star" next Saturday :D:D:D

There seem to be a million different things going through my head at the moment, so some advice on what order we should deal with "requirements" would be helpful. We already have the gear out of the T@b (just used to tour the UK), so things like:- Bedding, Cutlery, Crockery, Outdoor Stoves/Grills/Cobb, Outdoor lighting, Tables, Chairs, Windbreaks. We also think we're going for Insurance through Comfort based on reading here and Drexxer's recommendation, we are also thinking about opting for the Comfort Recovery option at £62 extra which includes upto 20,000kg, but are open to suggestions.

We're hoping to get a few shakedown weekends in before December, then spend Christmas/New Year bumming around Europe, somewhere, possibly Germany, again suggestions welcome.

Our initial thoughts are (over time):-

1) Harness and fixing point for Bannock the Border Terrorist (aka Bear).
2) Garmin 770 Camper with reversing camera
3) Pet Passport for "Bear"
4) GasLo conversion or similar (we'd do it).
5) Awning walls (or whatever they're called  )
6) Generator (not sure what Wattage)
7) ...

Your experience and advice would be welcome (y)

Cheers
Red.

Generators - the most hated device in motorhoming.

Occasionally essential but usually not.

Do you mean wind breaks or Safari Room or even drive away awning type of thing ?

I guess Safari Room,.

They are a love them or hate then thing. Worthless second hand compared to the £1000 new price because they are heavy and a bit difficult to erect. But if you stay on one place a week or more absolutely brilliant.

I LOVE my little generator and NEVER go anywhere without it...

If I need to, I use it and if I don't, I don't.

From an off site, fulltimer with decades of experience. ;)

Exactly. You are not some tosser who leaves one running in the middle of a show/meet for hours on end.

At Upton the other week such a tosser left his car running for hours to charge his mobile phone and the doors were open to let his young kids in to play. It was a great joy to us when the kids locked the doors then closed them with the keys inside. To be fair to him the car was much quieter than any gennie but all arounf were breathing the fumes.

Don't forget folks, the fumes from the new lead free petrol are highly carcinogenic.

A motorhome nearby had his engine running regularly, presumably to top up the battery.

There is no such thing as a silent running petrol generator. However there are many deaf motorhomers who think they exist ............
I wondered why the rattles on my van had gone away, must be the worn out lugholes:LOL::LOL:

Food & drink!!!!
We have a Honda 1000i genny, reasonable quiet, only used on CLs-no EHU-in UK when we get a few days of glum weather!
Solar panels & at least two leisure batteries!
Maybe a SOG on the loo that way you don't need loo chemicals, toilet can then be safely emptied into a Septic tank!
'Travel' towels instead of heavy household ones, they dry much quicker and take less space.
Pet passport, don't leave it too close to going abroad, think they need about 14 days between injection & check & issue of passport.
Enjoy yourselves above all else!

No one seams to complain about the industrial generators used on some rallies, me personally generators do not bother me as my tinnitus is louder than any generator.
