Has anyone got any thoughts or experience on how previous owners effects a resale from owner 2 onwards. A MH has 2 current owners, the second owner wants to sell the MH to the new 3rd owner. Does the potential buyer who will be owner No.3, do they need to consider this when giving an offer as well as the potential knock on effect when they come to sell?

When it comes to owner No.3 selling the MH, the new buyer will be owner No.4. Will the No.4 buyer bring up how many owners the MH has had and use this to negotiate the price down.

Or does the amount of owners at the third and fourth stage of ownership mean very little, its about brand, FSH, spec, condition etc etc,

I bought my 2020 BMW R1250R bike with 4 owners, 3000 miles, it runs perfectly. Was I bothered ? not really.

As we all know, we buy motorhomes, then realise pretty quickly that the layout doesn't suit and swap, this could be the case for a couple of owners.

Depends to some extent on how old the m/h is. Mine's 26 years old and I'm only the third owner. The owner before me had it for 14 years.
I'd say that being the third owner in say seven years is no reason to barter on price as three owners in that period is not unusual or cause for concern (unless perhaps it had been a rental m/h).

I wouldn’t let it put you off.
If I’ve done my homework on the history, service & mechanical and HPI clear, I’d be happy at that.
With Motorhomes, you have to take into account that some buy a motorhome and have it for a short while before realising that the layout is wrong for their needs or they don’t like the bed, or it’s too big/small or same for payload, so they change it.
Then there’s the covid period buyers who bought caravans and Motorhomes to holiday at home and then want shut. There’s loads of reasons other than it being a pig for it to have x amount of owners. Now if it was a car, I’d look at it differently.

Few thoughts.
1. Many owners = issues with van so gets passed on quick.
2. Simply that people buy the wrong layout and so move to another layout or different features quickly.
3. People get into the lifestyle and simply upgrade very quickly.

When I started I bought 3 vans in 18 months as i knew nothing about motorhomes, the 3rd van was a layout we loved but an older van and I had the chance to part ex with all my money back. So that was 4 within 2 years.

No, I would like to see how long someone has owned it for. Also consider that on occassions as like mine, it's one owner but says 2 owners as the 1st owner died and it transfered to his wife who never used it, so it reads 2 but effectively only 1. Sadly in our game it's the norm.

Some people change their motorhomes more than their underpants.

I am fourth owner of our MH which was 6 years old, with 16,500 miles, when I bought 15 years ago.

The history was that the 1st was in the motor trade, so presumably got a good deal when he sold. 2nd sadly went blind. 3rd was shared ownership with girlfriend and they were splitting up.

I had not doubts because of the 3 previous owners and it is a good-quality MH and was only 6 years old, so I considered 3 owners with that history not a risk, which it has proved not to be.

Mine was a private purchase so I was given the information, but dealers may be more 'circumspect', even if they have information.
