Prescription supply for long-term overseas trips

This business about removing you from their list is a load of nonsense, no one does it so don’t worry about it.
Our youngest daughter has been in Thailand for 8 years she is still registered at our local surgery. :giggle:

I meant removing people from their list if they went on holiday abroad for more than 3 months. I wasn’t talking about change of area within the U.K. sorry if I misled you.
As I have stated before my old doctors practice actively removes people who are out of the country over 3 months, or have not used them for a period of years. I've no idea why ?

Thanks.

Any experience of this in Spain too svp?
Yes same in Spain. The only problem I had in Spain was getting Trimethoprim for a UTI in my ex wife and that was only because they don't use it in Spain so had to use Cotrimoxazole. Should have no problem with levothyroxine.

Maybe just go see a doctor in the country you are visiting.
Loads of Brit folks here get their medicines this way.

I have bought many medications abroad many times over the counter at pharmacies generally for a few €’s a packet with no problems at all, just show them the old box or your prescription…😎
Yes, this is the best way to go, better if you have a copy of a repeat prescription along with a box/packet preprinted with your name which is normal in the U.K. as JS said it’s sometimes amazing how inexpensive they are compared to the U.K.

I buy Ramipril in Benidorm at the local pharmacy, it's only about 4€ a packet too 👌

As a traveler and for some time duel resident as well as being away from one place for over 90 days. My experience is 90 days from a UK doctor has always been OK for me. If I ever get short I just go private abroad, show my UK medication and get another 90 days prescription. Now I am resident overseas and if I need medication in the UK then I go to a private GP online service and have always got what I needed.

I have found many UK prescription medications are over the counter in some parts of the world.

That is just my experience. (y)

Earlier this year in Spain I went into a local pharmacy with the boxes of four types of pills and their only question was how many do you want. Obviously not free, but not expensive.. I wouldn't bother even stocking up before a holiday now. In fact I bought extra in case there was any difficulty back at home.

You do have to be aware though that in some areas of regions , especially in andalucia , you can struggle getting stuff otc. they have been tightening up on many things over the last few years.

Thank you I got thrown off my old doctors list as I moved put of hhe area. He kept me on for 11 years but could not do a call out.
Call out?
You'd be lucky for a doc visit in my area even if you lived next door to the surgery.

He knew it was unlikely had to book an appointment when suggested that thyroid may be an issue. Asked to see my favourite doctor told no retired asked when 5 years ago 2nd choice nope retired 7 years ago .they were reasonably confident I would not be needing a call put as in 30 years it had never happened.
Don't think.they do home visits anymore , just phone and call ambulance .I'm hoping not to.need either
