Has anyone used a Poynting MIMO 4 antenna (ideal the 4-17?).

Just looking for feedback vs other antennas.

I used to have a MIMO 3 but the newer MIMO 4 will fit the van food space better.

Will be paired up with a Teltonika RUTX50. Thanks.

Just to give you another option: the Poynting Swirl. One thing to watch is that the leads are quite short - which suited me but may be a problem for some layouts. Mine is also paired with a Teltonika RUTX50.

I did look at the Swirl as it looks a beast.

Does it have a ‘through the roof’ mounting kit like the MIMO 3 and MIMO 4? I wouldn’t need the base as my router would be installed inside the van.

(I already have the hole in the roof so do want to use that).

It has no roof mounting kit however it glues very easily with the wires going through a small hole in the centre. I placed it on a 5mm circle of sika adhesive, centred the cables in the hole, then left it for 24 hours for the adhesive to set before attempting to connect the cables. Note that I also sanded wherever the glue would touch on both roof and antenna.
While I did need to drill a new hole a small distance from the original the antenna was easily big enough to cover the original hole.

I’ve now looked at a Panorama antenna and the gain seems much better then the Poynting…

Sometimes I wonder if I procrastinate too much.

Mimo 4 17 shows negative gain at lower frequencies…

Poynting MIMO 3 17 also shows some negative gain at lower frequencies

The Panorama Mako shows much better gain across the board. It also has 30cm cables (which is fine for me) rather than 2m cables so less signal loss over the cables

“CST Microwave Studio” the source of the graph in the Panorama product data is a software program that simulates antenna. So that graph is not an actual measurement of the product! I wonder what the actual antenna can achieve!

That’s a very relevant point.

I've just fitted a panorama dual sharkee https://panorama-antennas.com/product/gpsxd4x-6-60-4x4-mimo-4g-5g-sharkfin-antenna/
30cm cables and the spec better than the equivalent poynting on certain frequency bands. not field tested it yet. Have had a big boy panorama directional (WMM4G) on the side of my house for 5 years and its been great so was happy to stick with them as supplier.
cons on the sharkee : Faff to get hold of (despite uk head office) and fitting kit designed for a thin roof (PVC or similar) so some invention required for a coachbuilt.

Nice negative gain (and that is before deducting any cable losses) in the 617-960MHz area, which is what you would normally need in low signal areas…
