Has anyone got tips for parking our camper, the museum tell me there is a height barrier on their carpark?

I think you would be best off at the P&R as then you will avoid the LEZ too.

According to their website theirs a 2.1m height barrier.

Yes. It is 2.1m (6ʹ 11ʺ). If you have a large vehicle, motorhome or minibus we suggest you contact 02392 688 290 for help and advice on where to park larger vehicles in Portsmouth.
For those heading to the Historic Dockyard or the Gunwharf Quays area there are unrestricted height spaces available on The Hard, St Georges Square and Museum Road. For those heading to the seafront, unrestricted height parking is available all along the seafront and in D-Day car park.

The Lez in portsmouth is not an issue as it only applies to commercial vehicles. I would try parking in the on street parking bays along pembroke road and then walking to the museum via the footpath between Old Portsmouth and Gunwharf. Its about a 15 minute walk.

Not 100% sure when it starts but off season parking along the seafront is free and it’s a nice 15 min maybe less walk into the Dockyard.

You could incorporate the RN Submarine Museum (Gosport) into your trip. Park at Mumby Road which is an HGV and long-term car park. After the Sub Museum (fascinating) hop on the nearby Portsmouth - Gosport Ferry for the Naval Museum.

Port Solent and bus it in, don’t forget to let the PS car park guy know that you’re parking up there

I was going to suggest Port Solent as well. I got the X4 down to Gunwharf today. Don't use the number 3. It took an hour to get home. The bus stop is a few yards west of the junction.
