Hi thinking of getting portable twin tub are they any good

If you have the room to carry them yes, they do work well. There is a recent thread about washing machines here

The portable twin tub machines are great. Use very little electricity and will work if necessary from the cheapest of 300w inverters. Stand them in the shower and Fill and empty are at hand. They are a bit bulky to store though.

the wife swears by hers, really convenient and as mentioned low watts so even use while wild camping. if you have a garage its easy.

Ours must be 15 years old now. Used very infrequently nowadays, but has done duty twice as our only washing machine whilst waiting for new ones...for a family of 5!

Amazon product ASIN B0779CGM6Sthis is the one the wife bought
Can you open them and add things or take them out like the old twintub or do they drain automatically. Actually it's not for the van it's for the garage at home for our dogs stuff camping stuff etc

They don't take very large loads at all (one bath towel in mine is probably pushing it) and none of the functions on min is automatic apart from the actual washing cycle which is on a egg timer type switch. Filling, rinsing, spinning etc are all manual interactions. Very heavy soiling, such as a dog towels might not come clean. If it's in the garage at home and space is at a premium a compact mains washer would be a much better prospect.

We used to go away for several months at a time usually to Morocco for the winter. We ran ours using the inverter ( big battery bank, lotsof solar panels) Usually once a week the washing machine would come out and everything including towels and bedding would get washed.
at one of our favourite stops down in the Sahara we got friendly with some locals who just coud not understand where the electric came from.
I would spend most of the day fetching and carrying water althoug to be fair these machines don’t require huge amounts (I just needed to make it look like I was working as hard as Mrs makems)
