Has anyone a recommendation for a make/model of portable TV aerial pls? I've seen the Maxview (clip on and off external) on ebay new for less than £30, which has pretty good reviews. This seems to fit the bill but others also get good reports.

So out through the roof light and magnetically stuck to the roof of a PVC should give a good result?

I have a Moonraker digital aerial that attaches with a suction cup and plugs into external coaxial socket for when satellite dish can't get a signal.
Works very well and quite cheap off ebay

a few of us have used them, small but very good if stuck onto a good ground plane 👍
I've got one for the TV in the bedroom at home and works well on a PVC window ledge

I have a boosted magnetic one which works very well on my MVC (Metal Van Conversion). I thought PVC would be a poor plastic to use for a van conversion so I got a metal one instead.

What I'll say is with the small magnetic ones make sure you get the one with the booster built in that plugs in to the USB port .

I have one of each and the one without the usb plug is naff.

Yes. At most locations my aerial only works with the usb plugged in to power the booster.

I can second this.
They are really good.
I'll third this, they work far better than they should, mine is not powered but has worked brilliantly when used (as a backup when unable to use satellite due to weather or internet -due to being in the UK!😐)

I’ll fourth this, wasn’t sure about it but ordered one and it works fine for me 👍

Yes, I bought mine while staying in Cornwall, the avtex aerial picked up Zero stations and I forgot the memory stick with films on for Ann to watch, I was in big trouble but the funster next door lent me his... I tuned in 40 odd stations no amplifier needed 🤩 👌

Yes that's right . The one without usb doesn't have a booster they're about £6

Great response and advice from all - many thanks from a new member. 👍. Seems a ludicrously low price for something which is well recommended but it obviously works. The booster appears useful to some so I guess that's the one to get? We have a Maxview satellite system fitted but it's never worked, even after comms with Maxview themselves, software update etc.
