Popit Under new ownership and advertising with us again

I have used them for a few years, always a bit expensive but I accepted that for the full allowance while roaming, I have a plan currently on hold as we are not using the van for 4 months :( but it will be cancelled when we get back as they just don't seem to offer value for money anymore.

EDIT just to add and incase they read this  if they could make the roaming 50gb on the "unbound 100gb for £24.95" I could be tempted to stay with them ;)

We still use them mainly as we are out of the UK for more than 62 days which seems to be one cut off point and the other is fare usage based on the last 130 days in the UK, which we never have. It suits us.

Had used them for over two years and was very pleased with them including their on-line chat service. But following the price hike and the fair use policy imposition they no longer offer good value so we’ve switched to alternatives.

I still have a Popit sim card. Presently on the low cost monthly retainer. Not sure about them anymore - not convinced they offer good value.

I am still using them, but yesterday, my sim dropped out of use and my phone cannot see it. Tried it another phone and still no good. Four emails later and still no further forward.

I get 50GB for 49p/month on Lebara 🤩
It lasts 7 months then I'll switch to another amazing deal... Hopefully 😊

Part of the problem in judging these things is that I don't know what it costs the provider to allow full roaming.

In the case of Popit, we went from a £ 25 100Gb which was, as I understood it, essentially unrestricted - roam like home. Then, after using it, I discovered that it couldn't be paused until more had been used in the UK, on a "fair use" basis. Maybe I just hadn't read all the small print?

Fast forward and the same package price now allows only 25Gb of the 100Gb allowance to be used abroad.

The one that allows you to use all of it abroad is almost £ 60.

But I rarely need to use it in the UK at all. I have a phone with a good data allowance and it's easy to tether things to it. Surplus to requirements in the UK.

So the question then is whether £ 25 is a good price for 25Gb of data, whether £ 59 for 100 Gb represents value, or whether there aren't better deals out there.

To date my understanding has been that there are indeed better deals out there. Including using a combination of European sim cards. Maybe sheer inertia and not understanding what options are available may cause one to purchase one of these new Popit packages, but I'm not really sure how good a business model that would be. But presumably they've done the market research and they already know the answer to this. 🤷‍♂️
