On our way to the Eurotunnel and trying out my new Popit sim in a Huawei mifi.
Not great so far. It is giving me very slow Internet when using Facebook and Twitter, However it is working fine for my TV, as we managed to watch iPlayer last night.
Just a bit confused 😕

If it's streaming without any problems you must have a good data rate so probably down to the servers on the sites you are accessing. Doesn't matter how fast your data link is you can only download as fast as the server will allow.

MMSC: Broken Link Removed

You were probably thinking of Broadband Go

Was broadband go. Offering a multi network uk coverage. The point about switching networks to check speeds will be relevant when out of the uk

Was okay last night for us for a bit of streamed tv in northern France. South of Tours this evening and got Camino to setup a new Tiekom sim for me today. I have say, it’s a very good service and a dedicated data sim, in a decent router/mifi clearly has some advantage.

Popit was okay too, switched across all networks and was able to stream with minimal buffering off a tethered phone.

Thanks for info.
I am watching all my TV channels without any issues. However Facebook and Twitter only work when I switch off my WiFi.

I think you will find the parental default setting blocks a lot of social media. Can be changed in My Popit. If you look at the FAQ it explains it there.

All those other people on their way to the tunnel or sitting waiting for it all using the data. It slows it down.

Popit support contacted me with correct APN settings. Everything now working fine.
Have to say that the Popit support is very good.
Not to mention how good the support from this forum is 👍😁

Hi Dave, how’s the Huawei mifi performing please, and what model is it? Thinking about getting a mifi for a trip next week to Spain. Any other recommendations for a good mifi would be appreciated (Jockrita has a ZTE model but it’s getting quite expensive).

I bought mine a few years ago when we first started our European travels, so it will be a bit behind the times. However I can't fault it. There are no issues whatsoever and we are happily watching Netflix, ITVX and iPlayer everywhere we go. The Popit sim is also great, and Popit have fantastic customer support via chat or email.
The model is Huawei 869E from Three Mobile. However later alternatives will be available now.
Hope this helps.
