Although we only live 30kms from Poitiers we had an early morning appointment appointment before setting off to Spain so decided to give the aire at Poitiers a go, as recently recommended on here.

Great little aire, well placed to visit the beautiful town centre but just be warned it is VERY steep uphill, and puddle even steeper than that 🤭(but delightful going back down again 👍).

Very Christmassy atmosphere with the market and the Ferris wheel, romantic views across Poitiers. Then we had an excellent fish and chips at our favourite restaurant La Serrurerie just off the main square.

Next morning MrS was treated to a huge pain aux raisins from a little boulangerie by the cathedral. They did huge everything, croissants, pain au chocolat, biscuits etc. Not actually the best, but quite a sight. And he didn’t leave any 😉

We had a day out in Poitiers a couple of years ago. Parked by a Barracks on top of the walls. Lovely views and a great city but the climb back up to the van!!!!!!

Looking at stopping overnight at Poitiers mid January on our way to Spain, towing a trailer this year so probably stay at the Camping Car one just outside.

Don’t know where the camping car one is, if it’s the one at Lac St Cyr it’s quite a way out of Poitiers but a nice setting by the lake and if you’ve got a car on the trailer then no problem to go into Poitiers 👍

Yes, that’s the one I’m looking at as they allow trailers on it , only stopping overnight so will not be venturing into Poitiers.

Which is the new aire in Poitiers please?
The one in the town is a car park with three mh places and is opposite the palais de justice. By the river and trees, quiet at night.

The camping car park one is quite a long way out at Lac St Cyr

the only place I know actually in Poitiers is the car park that has three mh places. No services but very reasonable. It’s on park4night, use the coordinates rather than the address as otherwise it takes you to the palais de justice itself on the wrong side of the road
