We are traveling to France next weekend via the tunnel and was thinking of traveling up the day before looking for suggestion of places to stay near Folkestone before traveling don't mind if it's a site, pub etc.

Thanks in advance

Another vote for Canterbury.
As long as you are there before 20:00 (i think it maybe 20:30)

Canterbury is lovely.

Canterbury is a million miles away, especially coming from the West :eek:

Canterbury.
Overnight (safe) parking
Water/waste drop point & a free buss ticket for up to six.
Beats even a lot of Frence Aires.

The Pilot Inn at Dungeness - free overnight parking right by the sea if you eat in the pub.

Hi Shandyman,
Cant help with stopping places as we have always used the ferry (although next year we will use the tunnel) and then parked up on dover seafront ( not sure if that is still OK.)
Any way you have great trip , let us all know where & how you get on, hopefully you have a laptop or tablet and can keep in touch if you need help. Again enjoy & take it easy.

The drum inn , Stone Street, Ashford, Kent TN25 6DN less than 10 mins from shuttle , pub grub but not a cheap overnight at £18

@scousebird do they allow over night parking at Tesco?

Well we've seen MHs parked there and I think generally Tesco don't have a problem with it as long as you're not in the way. The Tesco at Whitfield, which is close to Dover port has always got MH's parked there.

On the Military road A261 junction with A259 at Hythe their is plenty of parking on both sides of the canal, plus their is a large supermarket, thinks it a sainsbury on that road with a few pubs in Hythe itself,
I am less than 45 min the tunnel so have never used it but plenty do when I have driven passed,

@scousebird the reason I asked is the local Tesco here has a 3 hr parking limit.
