Hi all
As a new Motorhome user, whats the etiquette for pitches if the motorhome is taken off site
do you leave something to show its reserved?
Ta

If you have a sign, leave it on your pitch.
Some leave levellers or hook up lead, chairs and tables.
Depends on site.

Hello, Yes its a must as it can avoid a lot of hassle, you can buy a ready made pitch reserved sign from the CMC or if you are handy you can make your own ,a lot of people leave some items on the pitch like the ehu reel and tables and chairs but I wouldn't,I bought a sign at one of the shows with my reg.no on it. If on a site we usually just leave some bits on the pitch, never had anything nicked yet. We do have a sign, in English and French which we sometimes leave. We don't tour in the UK though so might not be so safe here.
Obviously you cannot reserve your pitch on an aire, though I have seen some try!

we have a small post with an number plate on it, its not the vans number plate but one off a car we sold previously. Still seems to work.

Leave your toilet cassette, open of course,on your pitch. Always a great deterrent.:D

Just as an example of what can happen if you do not leave a sign out We were on a club site and found a nice empty pitch ,so we set up van and awning, when this van pulled up and said we were on his pitch I tried to tell him that people usually leave a sign or something to show the pitch was occupied  so we had to move as he called the warden and he insisted we move to another empty pitch nearby ,we couldn't inform the office as to our pitch no. as it was closed when we went to tell them .The complainer left the site early next morning he didn't have anything outside his van the miserable git.

Leave the motorhome on the site and go out in the small car that you towed there on an A-frame.

We went out one day and left the waffle boards and blocks of wood, table and extension lead. Came back to find a caravan had arrived in the next pitch and he had used all my blocks of wood to level his caravan. I was not happy . When I confronted him he said he thought we had gone and left them behind accidentally so he had used them.

On another occasion we arrived back and a German caravan was parked where we had been and was using our bits we had left behind. He said he thought the campsite provided them. Strange campsite providing electric hook up cable, table, chairs and duck board.

We stick a small traffic cone over the pitch marker (particularly on C&MC sites as that's what they seem to use if a pitch is out of commission).

We have an additional number plate used as a marker, never had a problem keeping our pitch when away from site.

I just generally put this sign up and i have some 6 inch metallic place mats that i scatter around on the pitch. Seems to work.
You will always get some misery guts that thinks he is one better than every one else, those people best ignored.(y)
