Hi! We have Pilote Galaxy A-class and live in West Dorset. We love to travel in France because it's so user-friendly and have wintered in Spain with the 'van. This year we're giving Eire a try and would value any information or experience on wild/informal camping there.

We've also toured by motorhome in NZ and the USA/Canada and thoroughly recommend it!

I'm hoping there won't be too much rain in July!

In winter I only do hot places.
Last year, the Phillippines - though not by motorhome of course!

You're obviously used to a hard life, so a bit of rain won't be a problem.

But seriously, it's not the Emerald Isle for nothing, same as the Lake District has lakes full of water.

We once had a week's boating holiday on the Shannon/Earn and it did wait 'till we were leaving on our bike to pour down.

Boo, yes I believe it is rather pricey to rent in the US. We bought a used 'van in Florida and wandered about 6000 miles, ending up in the Bay Area California where we sold the van. We lost money on the deal of course but probably not as much as renting. It was a fantastic trip taking in The Smokeys, Lake of the Ozarks, Minneapolis, Wyoming and the Badlands, Yellowstone and the canyon country south of there down to Bryce then up to Lake Tahoe and into California - among others!
Nowadays we do it a better way, my sister lives in the Bay Area and has an RV - nuff said?
