Wow ! How many motorhomes have you owned ? I am truly amazed 👍🏻👍🏻

Owned this just over twenty years ago. It’s a 1965 VW Kemperink. Dutch conversion built for carrying cloths etc. They used the bay window VW also. This one was customised back in the seventies with a tag axle and used to be covered in murals. A mate of mine owned it for years and called it the big six. Was well known in the VW scene around the U.K. I bought it from him with big plans. I redid all the interior, lived in it for a while then sold it on.

This was the guy who customised it before my mate owned it. Sorry about picture but it’s taken off internet.

I bought my first, a Standard Atlas in 1969, have owned one ever since, sometimes have been in the two bird club owning two at a time. I am attracted to rare quality built vans, the problem being someone else always comes along and wants to buy them off me. Do you think I should take medical advice for this illness

It’s nice to see someone that has so many years of experience in motorhoming ! I bet you have some amazing stories to tell and have seen some beautiful places 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Here is another of my RMBs, A 760 with matching RMB/Fitzel trailer. The trailer was the only one built by RMB and was built to the same quality as there vans. Its now owned by a lovely couple who are also funsters.

Its not hard 😁 im on my 748th vehicle and my 11th motorhome.
Ive had 117 campers/motorhomes and i think around 15 caravans.....2 very small boats and 5 motorbikes the rest were cars and vans in just over 29 years
I've had a camper of some description in my life since passing my driving test in 1990 the first being a 1967 vw splitty i bought for £675 😁

Its an illness to which i believe theres no cure

This is our 63 split that we've owned for 16 years now, imported from Arizona. Although we've never had extended holidays in it, until recently we only used it for 2-3 night, stop outs.

I'm glad you posted that.................................as I've just reported it as a scam.

Cheers,

Jock. ;)
Hiya Jock, it'll be back on in a couple of months. The thing these people don't realise is it's an 811, not many of them about these days. Anyone who knows these old trucks will out question a scammer in no time.

It's the poor buggers who don't know about them that will get caught out.

Here is a VW Quebec on the T4. I bought it from the original owner, a Frenchman living in Spain. It was on French plates and I gave 4000 Euros for it. I brought it back to the UK and made a trailer from a Honda (sooty) van which you can just see in the photo which was taken somewhere in Norway on a fishing trip. I toured extensively in Scandinavia in that van buying old American cars.
When I decided to get rid of it I put it on evilbay with a reserve of £4000, it made £8500. To be honest, I was shocked it made that much, even though it was like new, having spent all its life in the sun.

This one must rank as the ugliest motorhome ever built. An Elddis Autoking tag axle, reputably built special order for the singer Frank Ifield. It had everything factory fitted including an Onan LPG generator and surprisingly the layout was very good. I bought it from a Spaniard in Benidorm and worked on it as a project one winter before bringing it back to the UK.

I love the way you always seemed to have a trailer on your travels . I could never imagine driving such a long vehicle like that . You must be a very good driver after owing all those vehicles 👍🏻

Yeah I agree. Great thread. I wish I had some photos of the Dormobiles my parents had in the early 70's. I am going to have a root around in the loft.

Haha, I never thought about the trailers. I towed trailers all my working life, so I suppose its just a natural thing to do. Just a
