My brother in law is buying his first motor home next Saturday as a private sale.it is currently sorned, untaxed and uninsured as it’s been kept in storage.he’s happy with the condition and everything like that.
My question is a technical one….what’s the best way to drive it home re tax and insurance, can he take it out from the day or what’s best ?he doesn’t want to make a mistake just incase the sale was to fall through…fingers crossed it’s all good 😊

I might be wrong but surely it needs to have MOT ,tax and insurance to be driven on the road. The only other option I can think of is to have it recovered to his home.

Does it have an MOT?

If it does then he should be able to insure it and tax it online as long as he has the v5 references.

They would have to insure it then drive it to a pre booked MOT appointment at a nearby MOT station, then assuming it passes tax it before driving away, if he does anything else he risks going through ANPR and being fined, penalty points and the van towed away, not worth the risk IMHO
