Peugeot boxer daytime dash illumination

Struggling with dashboard illumination during the day. My previous Fiat Boxer was modified at 1st service, so there must be a solution. I know running with headlights fixes it, but that seems counter productive.
Invested in a GPS speedo interim.

Thanks, I’m already doing that, but there are other gauges that I would like to scan. Bit of an old blokes thing, if it’s there it needs to work.
