I'm a newbie
Hi all,

First time poster. Question is as per the title, interested in buying a 2017 Peugeot Boxer campervan conversion. Most that I look at appear to have 2 swivelling captain seats at the front. Would be great but not ideal with a baby! Just wondering if its possible to put a twin seat back in to the Boxer and where its possible to make the twin seat swivel, and how easy that would be practically?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It’s easy and cheap to put a double back in as they share the same fixings, but not sure about the swivel part.

My pleasure, we fitted a stanard double seat in our last van, only having one child it was fun travelling with all of us front, we could play all the travel games, 'yellow car' etc. Although our lad's version included punching your leg if he saw one. That van had no rear forward facing travel seats and I did not feel happy with anyone using a sideways unbelted seat.

Welcome

You will probably get a double seat for very few pounds, as most people want to swap a double for a single - try ebay

Selling your single should fetch a good price - try ebay

Swapping out is easy, two 16mm headed bolts at the front of the seat and an electrical connector - I would advise a second pair of hands to help, it's not that heavy, but awkward

Make sure the double you buy has the correct seat belt fittings

You will also need to inform DVLA and your insurance that you have 3 seats (check V5)

On the downside, the double seat has limited adjustments, so may not be that comfortable and you will lose the facility to access the van from the cab

Hope this helps

This was covered in another thread last year I think so you might be able to find it if you do a search.

It is possible but you need to check what gubbings are located under your existing seat to ensure that a double one won't cause issues and also contact your insurers to make sure they are happy that you are looking to mod your vehicle.

The double seat we took out of ours was fairly uncomfortable, especially compared to the single seat we replaced it with. It also had no adjustments to it at all. I don’t think it would have swivelled easily due to the space there either.

Something to check is how you will safely fasten a child seat to the new seat (or those in the rear for that matter) ... if you want to put a child seat on the inner side of a dinette seat held only with a 3-way seatbelt check it cannot 'flop' out into the aisle.
