Hey folks - new to the forum, and to motor homing, and need some help please.

We've just bought a 2000 (W) Peugeot Symbol 2 berth MH and would like to buy / fit a 2 bike Fiamma rack - this one:
Fiamma Carry-Bike Cycle Rack Pro Motorhome Cycle Rack
Product code: 02093-17C

Will it fit? It's at a good price at the moment.
I'm a bit concerned about drilling a couple of holes at the top of the door - there doesn't seem to be an awful lot of metal above the rear window.

Many thanks

Not really the correct one for a van conversion, have a look at the Fiamma site and you will find the one that clips around the door.
Not sure if you will find one for your model year though.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I was avoiding the 'clip' type if I could - rather have something bolted if possible...

I'll take a look tho so thanks again

I did bolt mine on as well but you have windows so it could be a problem. I used the cargo clips that I took out of the van when I converted it, handy for strapping the bikes on using a ratchet strap.

Thanks

I think I need to take a look at some....!

I was gonna say you won't be able to fit the newer style one on your camper as you have no-where to put the side clamps, so it will have to be the one that hooks over the door, or one that goes on a towball, or swing out type lower down but that would get very expensive ... but ... I've just found these picture on Google which shows the newer one where they've mounted the top bracket below the windows ... so it can be done and would be my preference as the weight then isn't carried by the weak door top.

What weight are the bikes you want to carry?

They're two standard mountain bikes... not sure of the weight. We have a tow ball rack already - don't like it tho.

Thanks for replying!

Weight is important as these racks have a maximum capacity of 35kg and from experience I wouldn't want to go above 30kg ... less is even better but I suspect your bikes will be towards the higher weight, or even over 35kg combined so best to check before splashing out on a rack.

On my old Talbot I used the standard rack which I belive is a c type it was to wide but I narrowed it by cutting to inches out
The cut out piece I cut a wide slot in and forced it inside the tubes as a joiner drilled through and clamped with nuts and bolts
To mount it I bolted ally angle across the door and rested the rack on to them and bolted through
The smaller racks are cheap and plentiful on ebay

Folks - mine weighs 13kg, wifey 12kg

Minxy - that's looking good - many thanks!

Thats the same rack as mine except mine is mounted with the top mounting at the top of the doors..It was mounted like that but had to raise it to accommodate two aluminium chequer plate boxes below the bikes,,Quite a height to lift the bikes which are full size Giants but using my van step its quite manageable..Never had any bother with mine in two years of use..BUSBY.
