Had 2yrs of water ingress, taken to a specialist and local person. The ingress is coming through on the drop down bed and on the drivers side above the window. Had new seals along the top ridge line and along the whole length of the off side body and had the skylight resealed. But have still got ingress from somewhere. Checked the roof for cracks and warps but can not see anything. Getting really lost as what to do next. It's a 2015 burstner video aclass. Any more ideas as to where this dam water is coming in from.

Having seen threads on this subject before it seems that the entry point can be distant from the exit point inside.
On some a class vans there is a deflector strip on the roof above the drivers door which has potential to cause problems.

Hi
Is it definitely coming in higher than the wind screen , and not leaking from top of screen leaking on to dash area ?
Good luck hope you get it sorted

Purchase one of these Amazon product ASIN B003CSNV2Q then locate where the highest moisture reading is which may help identify where the leak is.
I use one of these for testing moisture content before putting wood into the burner. You only have to touch the subject matter to get a reading, you do not have to isert it into the material (non invasive), you can insert it into the material (invasive), however, it will then read the moisture content at the depth you push it to not the surface moisture content. So I believe you can use it as invasive or non invasive, however, to avoid making a mistake, you can do as Lenny suggests and get a non invasive

What is a recommended non invasive one ?

Surface water is usually condensation and tells you very little. I met the guy who patented the original Protimeter and the whole purpose of his invention was to distinguish between surface condensation and real damp, hence the need to push the prongs right into the material. I have both types and the pin one always leaves damage, it is ok for logs but not a motorhome. This is the one I use for most purposes.

?

Edit. My Amazon link to a Proster Pinless Moisture Meter keeps getting hijacked and changed to another Amazon link. Big Brother is at work. You may need to Google Proster Pinless.

Which setting do use with that meter, softwood or hardwood presumably? But what if there is no wood? Or will it give the same reading anyway?!! Thanks for the tip for the meter btw, I've been pondering buying one for a while.(y)

Depends on the construction but with modern motorhome materials there probably isn’t a correct setting. I have yet to find any damp so I am not sure what it would read if I did. With fibre board and wood construction I would guess softwood. I use it mostly at home where our listed building has a number of interesting readings.

I have both of the damp meters shown in this thread and the one below is the better of the two, pin and pinless measurements however it costs lots more. It states it can measure up to 19mm into the surface from the non-invasive side

After rain, is the water 'pooling' on top of the roof, under the Solar perhaps, I had a slight problem with damp a few years ago and found that the water was pooling against one of the skylight, (some distance away from where it was showing inside) I changed the direction of how the van was parked so that it didn't pool on the roof, renewed the mastic around the skylight (although it looked okay) parked it back again after a couple of days to allow the mastic to set completely, and the problem was cured. Good Luck!

We bought a Trotec BM40 pinless damp meter when we had water ingress issues on our Motorhome last year, the best £70 I have ever spent, when I checked my vehicle my readings were 3 times higher than the dealer was reporting.

Our walls had a vinyl coating which stops normal levels of condensation that occurs during normal use, and we were advised 12%-18% is considered normal.

Sadly once the damp gets behind the vinyl the damp gets trapped, if a pinned meter is used on the vinyl covering, over time this will allow the condensation to enter the walls from inside.

I hope you get your water ingress under control, we know how distressing it can be.

Buzz1 regarding your windscreen leaking issue, we had the same problem, if you’re still within your 5 year water ingress warranty? your supplying dealer should be able to arrange the windscreen removal and re seal, there are specialist companies that they use who do a good job.

Hi
I had a similar problem several years back. Eventually was traced to awning attachment rail. It was removed and new sealant used and no problem since.

Do you have an awning fitted ?
if so, it will have thru fixing bolts,
and brackets, if so, apply a good bead of sicaflex
around the edges of the brackets,
and a "mushroom " dome over the bolt tops
hope this helps.

On my Hymer (a-class) above the widescreen area is the front abs moulding this is butt jointed to the main roof just above the front driving seat and above the drivers side window this joint is sealed with a “T” profile strip that runs across the width of the roof and they have been known to leak as rainwater tends to pool by this sealing strip. something to check maybe..............just a thought.

Had the same problem on the same model. The top driver side roof to side seal was completely blown allowed water to track..it leaked at the front as yours & then at the rear
over bed and garage areas.
repaired & made good by Burstner dealer under 7 year ingress warrant.
so mush for good German build quality 🤨🤨

Thanks. I think it is similar, when we purchased it it was under 7 yes old however we were told it had been repaired. It wasn't then we were told they did not say it had been repaired and denied they said it. Could not be bothered arguing with them. 2 yes later it's now in at an independent garage having new seals put in and having the front skylight re fitted. Unfortunately the overhead bed fixings on the drivers side has dropped. More than likely due to saturation of the wood. So that will be the next job. In a way I am glad that it's not under warranty, having had so many problems with manufacture warranties.
