Still getting there.
Do we still need to have the passport stamped now that the border system is now fully electronic for entering the EU? Don't they just swipe your passport on their machine and know the exact time & date you entered?

I went to Germany recently (flight, not m/h) and they stamped my passport on entry and exit.

Been to France and Spain in last 3 months , passports stamped on entry and exit in both countries

They say it will not be fully operational until November 2023.

Oldish thread I know but just flown into and out of Ibiza and had an interesting chat with the UK passport control person.

Passport was stamped going into Ibiza but coming out they didn't even look at passports just waved everybody through so no exit stamp, when we arrived in UK I asked the passport person about this and they said it should have been stamped and (this is the interesting bit) if you want you can request that the UK passport control, stamp your passport and write on it "by request" so you can get a record of your return to UK.

Also found out that there is no electronic record of your entry and exit dates into countries, the electronic check is simply to see that what is written on the passport matches what is on the chip in the passport and that you are not a person of interest or wanted by the police or Interpol, so the only way anybody can calculate your stay is if they are diligent enough to check all your in and out stamps.

This will all change when (if ever) ETIAS and ePassport Gates are up and running as part of that system has the EES (Entry/Exit System) which will electronically record your entry and exit dates but until then it down to the stamps

I've been over to Fuertaventura today. Passport not stamped.

Rubber stamps in this day and age do seem a bit of a harking back to playing post offices when I was a kid 60 years ago!

Get a nice stamp on the passport. At Eurotunnel they even check to find a page where you stamped out of the UK and stamp the return next to it. So thoughtful. Unlike the US bozos that stamp anywhere as they are too busy trying to be intimidating to look properly.

We all expected that.

Did you buy a new motorcycle(I don't call them bikes, cos that is what kids ride)
Not recently. Happy with what I have for now.

But did do a trackday last week :)
