We have an Elddis 105 accordo on order (5 weeks to delivery!!!!) - its a 2 berth and the dealer was specific that only driver and passenger could be present while driving and no-one allowed in the back (no seat belts on the side benches) which was fine. But talking to my brother tonight who has owned several MH's over the years and he insists that passengers can sit on the side benches whilst driving even without belts - surely thats not right?

I don't think it's illegal to travel in the back. But it is illegal to not wear a seat belt if there is one fitted. I may be wrong but I read it somewhere.

A couple of years ago we were driving down the A1, and a PVC overtook us doing at least 70 in the outside lane. We were horrified because two young children were running up and down the van and looking out of the back window. OH rang the police, and they came back and told us it wasn't illegal. Why do people have children and treat them in such a careless way?

There's nothing to stop you having passengers in the rear on the side seats (not kids though) BUT it isn't safe and more importantly will invalidate your insurance which will only cover you for the number of occupants based on the number of belted travel seats.

After reading the info in your link anyone would be foolish to carry passengers in the back without proper seats and belts and I would think their insurance would be void if they did?😊
