Swift C502
We have a 2020 style Escape Compact C502 with rear and side parking sensors. The whole system appears to have failed, you get no notification when engaging reverse. All reversing lights and cameras work as original. I am assuming somehow the system has been deactivated as, after a recall last year for something unrelated, the alarm system had to be reset as well. But I did not notice the parking sensors had failed at that time. Has anyone any idea how to reset the system please. According to the book the fuse for the sensors also runs the radio and a host of other items all of which are working. The van was registered in 2021 but appears to be the previous years model. Many thanks, new member. We have a dog called Bilbo hence the van is called Bag End.

Thanks, no. The tow bar was fitted by the Swift dealer when we bought the van new. It was all working then, and for the first year at least. I cannot remember when the system failed but suspect it was after the recall last year when the Fiat dealer (not the van supplier) disconnected the battery I think....? Problem is, as I cannot prove it was then I know they will want a 'diagnosis' fee of nearly £200

Dealers be they car or MH dealers won’t do anything without diagnostics, it’s easy money for them because you pay whether there is an issue or not, or an easy fix or not.

I don’t know the system, but I doubt diagnostics would indicate an error other than it isn’t working. I believe that a single sensor failure could possible take the whole system down. You should be able to measure resistance between the sensor contacts I believe and this might highlight a failed unit.

Thanks, will check the sensors (when its warm!). I know from the wife's Ranger Wildtrak that the Ford system will still function with a faulty sensor, I was hoping the Fiat (Swift?) system was similar but possibly not....
