Hi

Wonder if anyone knows best place to park up or stay to see the birds and flamingos in the Euro Delta. Heading that way in a couple of days, seen a few on SFS but want to be able to see them without the aid of a hubble telescope.

Thanks

All bar one on S4S have a series of photographs, double click/tap to bring them up to full screen.

There's a restaurant that has a motorhome parking area.

Then a few km down the road, there's a museum. It's got a viewing platform on the roof with scopes to see the flamingos. We cycled there, but I think there's Moho parking?

I think Lenny HB has posted something about this on one of his travels about 2 years ago. Have a look at the "Advenure List" contained in his Signature.

There’s a campsite on the edge of the nice little town of L’Ampolla, from where you can cycle to the delta. Smart restaurant Raco del Riu on the delta. An Ecomuseum at Deltebre and another local museum Casa de Fusta.

It seems, a good place should be this aire in a restaurant parking, as Llacuna de la Tancada seems to be the place to go to observe theese birds.
It has full services (except EHU) for 5€.
I have never been but good reviews in p4n.

We have been this weekend in the motorhome parking in La Casa de Fusta Restaurant. We had a nice rice with duck for dinner and we saw flamingos too, flying above our heads, amazing birds.
No mosquitoes yet, luckily.
The place has 64 parking spots and it was almost complete .
Lots of German, French, Dutch, some UK, and only a few Spanish vans.
We went to service the van to another area in L'Aldea (very close) and it was full with German vans.
Being in February, what a strange feeling, almost like being a stranger in your own land:unsure:
Anyway, the Delta del Ebre is a special place and it's worth the visit.

Intention is to visit late March for some serious birding. So any Mozzy updates would be appreciated, wifey suffers badly from them.

Been there twice never been bitten, they must like you lot.
The municiple Aire by the restaurant used to be free and you paid for serving they now charge but servicing is free. Great spot for bird watching.

Lenny last year was one of the worst in Spain for mozzies so much so there is a dedicated reporting app, they are seeing an influx of African and Asian species which bring some nasty diseases with them. We were intending to visit the delta in October last year but were warned the mozzies and flies were really intense.

We were in the Ebro Delta last April and didn't see a mozzie. Mrs DBK is a mozzie magnet normally. My guess is early in the year should be safe(ish) but avoid later in the year. I still have the scars from a visit to the Camargue in September 60 years ago. :)

As of last weekend, no mosquitoes yet, that we've seen / felt / heard.
But be sure, soon they'll appear.
