Hi I live part time in Exmouth and part time in Weston- super-Mare.

I want to buy a small Motorhome but in Exmouth I am limited to parking on the roadside where I live.

I do have a residents parking permit to use a discrete car park for my present car but can’t get a permit for a Motorhome (I’ve emailed and asked them).

There are some ‘special’ places which are ok for visitors but are no good for residents due to cost and a time limit of three days.

Seems daft that the council seems to prefer Motorhome roadside parking in front of homes instead of providing residents with permission to use an otherwise largely empty out of the way car park.

Anyone local who knows of somewhere suitable? Just about to buy a vehicle but would rather not annoy neighbours.

When you say "a small motorhome" how small are you happy to go? For example, I am sure you would have no problem with a classic surfer's VW camper although probably more affordable a Mazda Bongo might be better. Both of these will fit in a parking spot and you can say they are not MHs, just your everyday transport. The other option might be a "stealth van" which looks like, well, a van from the outside.

I'm guessing your car park is privately owned and there restrictions on what can be parked in it.

My general point is if you have something which fits in the standard car parking space then you should be able to get away with it.

And from what I've read Exmouth are cracking down on overnight parking on the sea front.

Hi - Agree with you but the council doesn’t! I could park a LWB panel van there but anything registered as a camper van or motor home can’t be parked in what is a council car park. They are insisting that size is irrelevant. I had hoped that making it clear that it would be parked and not inhabited but still refused.

Exmouth - part of of the seafront now has an overnight ban for MH but equally so do the car parks? But it seems it’s ok to park in front of homes on the roadside a few meters away?
