MH
One for business use
We have a couple of aging heavy duty Transits. Nothing wrong with them apart from being 9 years old they do lack some of the safety features like , lane departure control, emergency braking etc. However, looking around the usual suspects Ford, Peugeot/Citroen and VW, the prices are eye watering for anything above a standard size basic spec. A L3/L4 van H2 with sat nav and parking sensors is coming out around the price of a new F-type Jaguar in the £55,000 to £60,000 mark.

Yet looking at some of the MH's (e.g. auto-sleepers) derived from these, the initial price even when adding in the special packs don't seem that high for what you get for your money in comparison to the current van prices.

Guess we will be holding on to our vans for another year to see how the market changes in terms of price but also the move towards electric. However, the way I feel about "ad-blue" it may be a newer vehicle that goes first!

Anybody have views on reliability ? We have always used Fords from a Connect crew cab to our Heavy duty transits. The odd niggle but nothing too much. We had so many friends saying not to buy this or that brand/model because of issues but you never know because some people just like to spread myths

The trouble with Sprinters and most others is that they are 3 or 4 inches narrower than the Sevel vans and particularly in MWB conversions where a transverse bed works well that can mean the difference between a 6'2" bed and a 5' 10" bed
That’s why Hymer fit pods to the side of the sleeping area in the sprinter so you can have a good 6’2 or so.

Fiat Ducato is a great van, I thought I was going for a Mercedes’ yet the Fiat is a great vehicle and nothing like the old Fiat cars that biased me

Have you a link to a poded one please? You can cut out one of the side strength bars and thin insulation to get close to 6'2" which I imagine they have to do if fitting a pod ?

Here is one and there are a couple of companies that sell the GRP pods in the UK.

Cannot find bed size but from pics it looks to be a very narrow bed? Depending on insulation you would not be far off 6'2" but would have to be between the side bars so narrow. I cannot remember but seem to think about 4 ft between bars.

Bed sizes are given on the price list you will need to download it.

I'm on my phone and I cannot download for some reason. If you have size it would be interesting, although I feel the sidepods will be expensive and on a Sprinter I think I would prefer longitudinal beds. Not to keen on crawling over partner 😉

The Movano is a Renault Master and would be my second choice to convert after the Seville vans. It is the second widest at 5ft 10 ins which is good 👍compared to others. Not sure what engine's are used now/new but they had Soffin engine's which were bullet proof
Agree I've converted a renault master and I have a L shaped settee that converts a double bed with a toilet area across the back great vans

I am 6’2 the height in the Fiat MoHo is good as is the Mercedes’ plus they are transverse beds my wife is also tall and we are both slim so these beds are fine for us. A couple who may be more of a robust size may find then narrow, also they are slightly higher than a normal bed some find it a challenge to hop in and out of them and again whoever is nearest the rear doors will have to find a way around thier partner if you don’t want to wake them up. So if your a bit stiff maybe taking up yoga may help ;)

If I'm a bit stiff (wishful thinking), she needs to wake up.
