Had the unfortunate experience of scuffing the paintwork whilst having asked someone to see me back !!
Lesson Learned!!
I’d be really grateful on advice re the repair.
Can ordinary paint be used or will I need a motorhome specific paint repair ?
The damage visually is quite minor, but at the same time very annoying.
It’s too deep to just polish out but has not gone very deep thankfully.

Thanks, but I’m of the opinion at the moment that I’d rather keep the MH in the condition I got it in all the time that I can.
I think I’m particularly disappointed and annoyed as this one wasn’t actually my fault, other than my poor choice of person (who shall remain nameless)
to ask to assist me whilst repositioning 🙈

My mh , is not going into a beauty contest , a few scratches acceptable seeing the places I have been with it .

Annoying yes, and I would want it right, the panel on the left looks like ABS plastic or similar and may well run down carefully with wet/dry and then polish back up, the paint just needs a car touch up guy IMO.

The driver us ultimately responsible ss try not to be too hard on yourself. :whistle2: Give it a wash and a polish and get in and out the other side when parked put a chair in front of it and look rhe other way at the ☀ shine

I used a mobile guy (Bridgend South Wales), car body shops won’t even get back to you as it’s too big for there premise. You would not know that a bollard had leaped out in front of me.

So, ordinary car paint then?

No need for gel coat in these circumstances?

A very knowledgeable funster told me years ago that the small reflector lights from Halfords stick quite well on small scuffs. :giggle:(y)

The bit to the left I believe is plastic.
Someone did mention if using conventional paint to make sure it’s polymer……
It’s a bit beyond me.
I’m eager to get it sorted but conscious of getting it done correctly.

I would agree with movan. The location will lend it self perfectly to an amber side reflector.

I have had a discussion with a ford mondeo earlier in the week and need a long scratch sorted.
I asked around, I got two recommendations for the same company.
C & E Motors
Who are based in Norman Rd (next to Deptford Creek), so not too far from you.

I took my van over earlier today.
They can fix my scratch, they just need to confirm my van, at 2.90m high, will fit inside their workshop as they can't spray outside.

If you give them a call, boss is Peter, and Gary is the man that knows about my van which is identical to yours, so perhaps we can get a bulk discount as the paint would be the same

I know I'll get pelters for this, but I'm gonna do it anyway. I know, I'm a disgrace...

"there premise" should be "their premises".

Now, the only reason I've picked this up - in fun I hasten to add - is because it's a favourite of the emergency services, and I'm on a one-man mission to outlaw it. I'll take what's coming :)

Hymer MLT 570 '60th Edition' (2017 & 2018) Paint codes.

To save your fingers a lot of walking here are the paint code colour numbers:

Rear: Hymer 'Crystal Silver' hya649
Front: Mercedes 'Graphite Gray' 7759

The place that is doing mine is here
RMS Garage, Deptford
The main guy is called Ray, he mostly works from a van.
But the garage he uses in Deptford does have a door more than 3m high!

(Reccomended by C&E Garage, who could not fit me in (garage door not high enough!)

Thanks Brains, Ours is the model after yours, and it's grey and white. I hope your repair work goes well.
I have decided to use somebody locally to us who also comes recommended. Hopefully it'll go ok, thankfully it's only a very minor scratch.
