There’s been an engine management light coming on intermittently on my 2007 3.0 Fiat Ducato based motorhome. It came on again the other day so I plugged my code reader in and it showed the fault code P0638. A quick google later and it’s the throttle body going wrong. All the symptoms are spot on when the light is on so I’ve contacted Coastal Motorhomes to see if they can get me a replacement. It looks a complete arse to change due to its position and the access isn’t great so I’ll be calling my mechanics over in Norfolk when I get it. Nuts to doing it myself. :giggle:
Anyone else had this issue on their van?

Yes, we had same problem on our previouse moho, Autocruise Augusta 2010,3.0l, caused by water ingress.

I’ve now ordered the throttle body and gasket from Coastal Motorhomes. (y) I’ll get my favourite garage to fit it. They’ll love me. I’m sure they’ll charge me for the displeasure though.

I didnt know what i was but this helped me understand..

It does sound like that’s the main cause. I fitted a scuttle drain that I got off here but think it was playing up for a while before that too.

Mine cost £665 to sort hope you get off lighter. Think you need a new loom as well though. 2.3 not 3.0l though

The parts, throttle body, wiring loom thingy and a gasket came to just under £250. Not too bad. 2/3/4 hours labour and it should be ok. (y)

That's good my garage insisted on genuine iveco parts very expensive!

The parts I ordered are genuine iveco ones. Think you got knobbled. https://coastalmotorhomes.co.uk/cat...oen-relay-iveco-daily-oe-throttle-body-cable/
Unusual for a garage to charge excessively 😇

Think when you live at the end of the world and are not capable of doing these jobs yourself you get ripped off. That's life as we get older I'm afraid.

Anyway long trip through France and Spain since throttle body changed and an improvement of about 5 per cent in fuel consumption. So if I spend around £13000.00 on diesel the repairs will have been free. :ROFLMAO:
