P reg Ducato won't start . . .

Hiya MarionK,
I'm sorry that you had the Covid and that it has put you seemingly up the creek with state of the van. If you have an issue with the battery, don't be afraid to whip it out and charge it - I got a very good charge/repair battery charger off Amazon for €20 and am very pleased with it - it got me going twice this year so far.

I get that you know what you're looking at, but I don't know if that'll help sort your problem? I can't necessarily help either as my van's 190,000kms 2.5 SOFIM engine seems similar but lacks the Turbo. it's '92 so would be on a UK K or L plate (I think). I have never experienced the issue you describe.

I hope that someone here can help pinpoint more accurately what you're looking at but your mechanic will be a strong ally. Have you asked around for someone who looked at the older vans of the 4 different makes that carried this engine? I would want to replace your retired mechanic asap ( that or tempt him out of retirement by showing some of the posts on here and the moolah that could be made!!!)

I'm all sorted now thanks. Thanks to a member's recommendation, I have found an ace mechanic. He actually specialises in mh's and knows all the other vans with the same engine. My old mechanic was his own boss, and had a very good rep, so I'm pretty sure he saved enough to retire comfortably. ;)
