Have a few Funsters who may not make the 8pm gate closing time at the upcoming Newbury Retro so looking for other overnighting options not too far from Newbury Showground please?

Hi.
Plenty of lay byes around Greenham Common area/Swan and Salmon Pub? worth a punt, that being on/off the old road, and plenty just north of the M4 Interchange at Chievely? just of the Oxford Newbury road.
If you are Mega Bucks. stay at Chievely services...sorted.

Brit stops 163 and 164 are close.

Farncombe Farm at lambourn about 25 mins away.

Halfway Inn on A4 between Newbury/Hungerford has a large car park as does the Bell at Boxford, and might be worth a try.

There's parking where the Ridgeway crosses the B4001 Wantage/Lambourn Rd, and where it crosses the Wantage/Newbury Rd on the B4494 both with great views.

Edit: About 100m north of the B4001 one, there's a slightly less obvious spot on the right, I've seen many vans there.

I know that there is HGV parking at Tot Hill services south of the M4 on the A34 (Newbury Bypass) but no idea if there is overnight parking and parking charges for motorhomes.

If you are coming north bound on the A34 if would be worth calling in and checking it out as you are only about 15 minutes away from Newbury Showground. Access to the services are from a roundabout over the A34 so easily accessable off (and back on to) both north and south bound carriageways.

Depend's on what direction your approaching from . If your approaching from the east on the m4 , there's a large layby off the a4 , 1mile east of woolhampton , several van's could fit in there 51.395495 , 1.161022 , leave m4 at jun12 follow a4 aldermarston . Approaching from the west jun 14 a338 , 2 laybys each , both north and south within 100yds of the motorway . But it's possible to find heavy truck's in there . Approaching from the north or south , a34 , plenty of laybys , but it's likely heavy's will also be there . Problem with the 34 laybys is the traffic , even early saturday morning the road can be busy with heavy trunk traffic , returning from the various hub's around brum . Milton pk at didcot is a no no . Personally i'd park up north of oxford where the laybys are bigger , 2 to remember 1 mile south of m40 , by the shell garage alway's heavy's there , but you should be able to pk up , and another about half mile further south . There are a couple at abingdon on the a415 , 50 yrds west of the 34 but not sure how well used they are . South of the m4 , there are several large laybys , between tothill service's and the m4 , but never forget you are on a main road to/from southampton port , so it's likely container traffic could be parked up already .

If you re coming down the a34 Rye farm truck park, Abingdon. Not too busy and Abingdon is a nice little town.

Rye farm truck park, Abingdon.

Only problem with that one is you have to pass through the town centre to access it . Best way is to come off 34 at abingdon north and keep going straight , follow town centre sign's down to the second traffic light controlled junction , and turn left . You should pass a bp garage on the right 10 yrds before the first set . Possibly only be a couple of truck's there and it's a big pk . Watch for the speed camera on the left just after the first roundabout .

The furze Bush pub at woolton hill a couple of miles south of Newbury .good food as well .

Or you can ring the Old London apprentice pub in hambridge road newbury ,ask for Ken tell him Roy recommended and I am Sure will accomodste you .Roy.
