The Lincoln Council has decided to ban overnight sleeping in their car parks, including the popular car park at The Lawn, effective from 25 November 2024. This is as a result of their risk assessment, fire risk, and complaints from local residents about abuse of the area including misuse of waste bins and planted areas. Motorhomes are asked to use the campsites near the city, which of course close at the end of October.

Oh no that’s a real shame, it’s a really great overnight stop, in fact we are there tonight as we have some warranty work at Camper UK tomorrow 😧

So, Motorhomes have just over a month to impress the Council enough so they could be persuaded to change their minds.

I wonder how many MHers will take up that opportunity? 🤔

I feel sorry for the local business community as I know many including us use the many local bars, restaurants and take aways

I wouldn't worry about them, the council certainly doesn't what with the cancellation of the very popular Christmas Market etc

Stayed there a few weeks ago, quite a few vans there, aĺl appeared to be obeying the rules. The only abuse of the area we witnessed was from what appeared to be locals, who arrived on foot, drinking possibly alcohol and dogs running loose everywhere.

We were there earlier in the year, and I didn’t see any abuse of the area from the many motorhomes staying there.
It seems to me a young councillor is trying to make a name for himself.
We ate in the city, and spent in the shops while there,it’s the city’s lose aswell as ours! :(

We went in the car steampunk weekend and you could barely walk between the motorhomes on that carpark . Totally irresponsible and dangerous and law abiding motorhome owners pay the price

We also went in the car as it is not that far from where we live. It was a nightmare finding any space to park in the carparks as there were so many motorhomes and campervans who were obviously parked up for the duration of the Steampunk weekend. yes - we also noticed how close together they were too and some with chairs and tables and even bbq's surrounding them.
