I know you’re allowed to stay the night if booked on the ferry for next day, can anyone tell me if you have to arrive before a certain time. I’m thinking it might be around midnight by the time we get there if we leave later today, would that be ok to arrive at this time.

If not can anyone recommend an overnight close by.

Should be fine at that time Gerry. However they’ll be giving you knock at 4am for the 7am departure. 😂

Thanks, I hope not as it’s the noon ferry we’re thinking of booking 😂😂

You may have a problem then, because those boarding the earlier crossing will all be parked up. They won’t want later departures in the same queue.
Theres a little social club on the right as you enter the terminal . Suggest you use their car park.

you will park up in the area at the entrance to the port, won't be disturbed at all.... not an issue, have done it several times !!

We traveled on the 7am crossing on a Sunday. We arrived on the Saturday at 17.55, just as they closed the gate for the day and we were consequently, right in front of it (first in the next day).

By the time we went to bed at 10pm there was a line of motorhomes behind us and a few in the car park.

So, great if you are on the first ferry of the day but otherwise you probably have to overnight nearby instead.

Thanks for the replies, looks like I can park up or not 😂😂
We haven’t booked yet so might just book Friday and arrive nice an early on Thursday.

There is dedicated motorhome parking to your left as you enter the port,or was when I last stayed in May.Used it half a dozen times now, it is well away from the check in lanes, you won't get a knock. It's supposed to be paid parking but I have tried to pay at the port office twice now and they have said don't bother if it's only overnight.I think the pay sign is to discourage vans parking there for the whole day, you'll be fine.

Correct. Says £5 but just ignore . Plenty space , a few yards from check-in.
Stayed there 2 weeks ago
