Hi I took my van in for service last 3 weeks ago and I've just checked the oil and the oil level is about 30mm above the max mark, would this be a problem ie to much pressure or am I just being over caucus.
Thanks for reading.
Dave

You won’t get too much pressure.
The risk is the crankshaft will start whipping up the oil into a froth and aerate the oil.
This could cause a loss of oil pressure as the oil pump can’t work properly.
It needs sorting ASAP. Keep your revs to a minimum driving to the garage.
When changing the oil, many garages seem to suck the oil out, via the dipstick hole or somewhere, rather than removing the sump plug like in the old days, so shouldn’t take them long.

I had a similar issue when I had my car serviced. I bought a large syringe and put some aquarium airline tubing onto the end and put it into the dipstick hole and sucked it out (y)

When I inadvertently added too much oil when servicing our car at the time, I jammed the Allen key into the sump plug, cracked the plug open a couple of threads, and allowed the excess oil to gently trickle out and along the Allen key into a container. My fault so my job to rectify it, but had I just paid a garage for a service, I'd be on the phone to them, giving them the opportunity to rectify it instead.

Good luck,

Jock. :)

Hi thanks for your replies, I've just been out to measure the overfill with a rule an it's about 12mm not the 30mm I originally said.

30mm is quite a lot over.
I would go back to the garage and explain....but don't be conned into paying, it's their fault not yours.
