Sorry if I am going over old ground and has been asked before but anyone reached 70 yrs of life and had to renew their drivin license? How long did you wait to get your new license back? Did you declare any health problems that caused a prolonged delay?

All the best

Phil

If you have no medical issues you should get it back pretty quick, minus the C1 category.
If there's any medical issues it will be passed on to the medical dept and could take MANY months.

I got mine back late November after filling in the on line forms and declaring my sleep apnoea in April = six months! Not a problem for driving in UK as its covered by section 88 but one needs a valid license to drive in Europe which was a problem for me! The DVLA medical board are so so slow in dealing with problematic issues that (in my case) are all being managed satisfactorily by the NHS - why can't they communicate!!

You need to apply for a new plastic photo license. You also have to remember to renew it every three years

I'll be 70 in April 2023, when should I start the application process for a new license? I need to retain my C1 status as our van is over 3500 kg.
I cycle approx 100 mls a week, walk 4 mls most days, I consider myself quite fit and rarely visit the docs, would I be required to take the 'stress' test?

regards, and happy new year to all

I doubt it walburga unless you have a reportable medical condition, or fail the medical..........which looks doubtful judging by your exercise regime. ;)

Cheers, and a Happy New Year to you too. 👍

Jock. :)

Everyone has to renew their driving licence at 70 years, regardless of what vehicle categories they hold.

If Category 'B' then only a self-declaration of health matters is required. For other categories, including C1, C and Bus etc a D2 Application and a D4 Medical(conducted by an EU-qualified Doctor) has to be submitted.
