Just looking
Fiat Ducato 2016.
Temperature display on the dashboard usually looks to be correct.
Last couple weeks though has been showing 47°C but varies up to 55.
Not bothered it being wrong but just wondering can it cause any grief???
Yesterday though it was showing 21 about 0900, no way it was that warm that early.
Not in upper Weardale.
Any thoughts much appreciated.

It can apparently affect regenerations and air con operation, I think?

Not that expensive to replace though.

No air con to worry about but regen could be a worry.
Might have to check out cost of part and how to change it.

Presuming you don't have an A class. The difficult part is getting to the connection in the driver's door if you are going to do it properly. You can get a cheap part without the plug which means releasing the old wires and reusing the old connector. £60+ for fiat part, less than a tenner if not.

As I remember you have to pop the mirror control out, I vaguely remember removing the speaker to pull the wire through. The wing mirror itself was just removing the plastic covers.

I found this and copied it here for information

When I was looking into my Peugeot software one of the diagnostic pages asks if an external temperature sensor is fitted or not. Probably depends on the build software.
For any one who needs a sensor the fiat part number is A0001375410080 and I paid £27.18 inc vat for mine in Jan 2022. Northern Commercials Brighouse

Would usually try to do it properly but £10 for the part is a lot more sensible. Would be tempted to cut wires inside the mirror unit, solder the wires with heat shrink. Only concern would be damp getting in.

You maybe able to cut the wire at the thermistor in the mirror and pull it through to inside the van via the mirror control module, you can then do the join and coil the excess in the door. All depends on how well it is taped to everything.
