Not sure if to put this this on Rally Chat or General Chat... So have put it on here..

Firstly Judy and My Thanks to Kate, Bill = @Ambilkate and Carol & Eddy = @Carol for arranging such a successful "Rally"..

It was superb... in all respects.... Entertainment, Sing Songs, Egg & Bacon Butties. Jacobs Table and all the other things that were going on that makes for a great rally... Your time and effort was appreciated by many... :clap2: :lips:

And too many to name but thanks to all who came... & :party2:
.......................................................................

Which brings me onto this....

I thought and I expect others did as well, The Tea Cabin worked well... BUT...

I think it was a bit off putting having the "Elsan" point within 40 ft or there about`s of the Tea Cabin and in open view... so until such time as I build a new Tea Cabin on the field, Over the next couple of weeks I am going to erect a 6ft high fence around the Elsan Point with a door into this compound..

Also seeing "Funsters" leave, although I have not come across any "Wing Mirrors" yet...:giggler: I am working out (In my head) how I can widen the gate and bring it closer into the garden... I think I have worked out a suitable way of doing this... so this will be done in the next month or so.. (y)

And those that have stayed.......... if you can think of anything we have overlooked which would make your stay more pleasant ... Please say and I will see if it is viable for me to put your idea`s in place... (y)

I am going to take a week out now.... we are exhausted..

If the gate opens onto the road you might need to speak to the local council or even the Highways Agency if you want to alter the entrance. Might be wrong (usually am) but worth checking. :)

Work on the Elsan point will certainly need to be cleared with Porton Down. :)

Gate opens in........ I was going to move one of the 8inch square posts and put a pedestrian one in... but the original posts are set in 4ft round concrete so would take some getting out...

So easier to put an extra length of fence up either side and new wider gates further onto our property.. (y)

Although managable, wider gates would be nice. (y)
Being set back may also help those with longer vans and especially those with caravans.

The Elsan I think is only an issue when there is a gathering like we Funsters tend to take part in.

Keep making these improvements and it's going to be the best CL ever.. :D

ps. Dont forget the rope swing...
(ready for next year naked rope swinging day)

rather than a fence and gate around the elsan , why not just put up a fence panel as a screen,( could be angled to cover the loo entrance also) a gate might be fiddly to open or easily damaged( and costs more).(y)

Thank you so much Maurice Judy Bill & Kate it was an amazing meet and Eddie & me were only to pleased to be able to help all the hard work and planning were Kate's.
I can't say how much we enjoyed the venue and facilities which were great .
The only thing I can add about having the tea cabin in a different area is that it is slightly off putting when the ladies/gents go to the loo first thing in the morning and you can have an array of smiling faces watching you so not only would it save the Elsan being so close also make the loo more relaxing.
But hey really just grateful for a tea cabin and loo so really no complaints.

Maurice you are so caring and wanting us to have the best experience from your lovely abode. We are being very spoilt but very much appreciated. You & Judy have a little (well if you can call over 5acres little) gem there. If I was driving the motorhome you would need wider gates :whistle:but Bills happy with them but yes to make it easier on traffic and not to cause obstruction on the road it would be a good idea.
You could also (just a suggestion) put a contribution box in shed, we used toaster and your gas for tea urn I'm sure everyone would contribute.
Now my own personal question when you starting digging our swimming pool I got my cossie ready :sneaky: ;) :lips:
Well done Maurice & Judy you have achieved so much in such a short time try and take timeout to relax and enjoy your property and land for yourselves to
Kate x

I did put one in behind the digger shed....

But it was not hot enough for anyone to use... :giggler:

Not wasted.. as a couple of frogs have taken up residency..:nod:

As everyone else has said, you have a fantastic place there, already better than most!

I think that a simple fence from the tea hut door angled towards the hedge would provide sufficient privacy screening for the loo, if indeed its needed - no point encouraging too much use of the loo when most of your guests will have them onboard!

As I said to you over the weekend, you have an excellent design of Elsan with deep sloping sides so very little chance of splash back. I would add a very coarse ( 2inch ) mesh about half way down, to stop numpties dropping their cassette cap down there, and potentially blocking your drain.

Moving the gate further into your property would make it easier to get in with a trailer or toad. When I came in with the Toad, from Haughton direction it did get in the way of the bus going to Haughton as I slowly drove between the gateposts. But I don’t really see it as a problem - plenty of room either side of my wing mirrors.

@Ambilkate ‘s swimming pool idea has merit but only really if heated! Maybe it could double as a Moho wash with some clever design:rolleyes:.

That was hard work breaking through old concrete.. (Judy has Blisters on her hands).. :frowny:

Made me fair sweat just watching her...:giggler:

Anyway...... Hole dug 3ft deep post set & post on wall and three Arris rails fixed...

Fence will be 6ft 2 inches tall + capping.. (Any one taller will have to get down on your knee`s if you don`t want to be seen going to the loo.)...:rofl:

Just got to work out how much "Feather Edge Board" I need and where to get it...

Going to have to leave Tea Cabin where it is at the moment...

Cos if I put it up the field or build another there wont be any elemtric for the fridge and Kate`s "Pop up Toaster"..

And then I would be in deep s**t if Bill and Kate did not get their fix of morning toast..... :giggler:

Work so far on fence...

Will it be like the French where the men line up against the fence?:giggler:

If so best make sure the timber is tannalised against rot!

That looks like about 3m, so you’ll need 4 packs of 10 (100mm wide) at about £15 a pack from Wickes. Probably a cheaper builders merchant in your neck of the woods

See !!!!!! I do listen and take on board what you suggest... :giggler:

Fence finished and found some mesh to go in the Elsan Point..

So any Wallets and Elsan lids are now retrievable... "YUK"...

Spot on with your workings out on how much timber I would need... (y)

"BUT" ..... grossly over priced at Wickes.... I got it at B&Q.. for

£14-95............. but did have to travel 5 miles further...:rofl:

Oops. I said “about £15” but actually £14.49. Suppose I owe you £1.84 now.

I generally find Wicked about 5% cheaper than B&Q, except on Wednesdays. Prefer Screwfix if I know what I want though.

Ground level dump for RV's I hope mo? Otherwise it's RV discrimination, I shall have words with my MP.
