So our first breakdown was a disintegrating clutch and after being off the road for three weeks and a serious caning in the wallet we collected the van and the following week set of on a two day test trip.
Or should I say a 100 mile test run. following a break at Southwaite services the MH would not start.

On the plus side a motorway service is a good place to breakdown we were back at the Fiat workshop and then home in 2 hours.

Diagnosis. Scupper has been leaking for several years and water has penetrated the wiring loom and then into part of the diesel pump control system. No pump control no diesel. Another two week awaiting parts
thankfully Fiat made a "good will," and very much appreciated contribution so the repair bill though hefty was not nearly as bad as it could be.

Since I have read many informative forum threads on the scupper and making sure water is not drained away via the electronic systems.

Just back from 500 miles around Dumfries, no problems maybe just maybe no more.

I had a friend who once described owning a boat as like "standing in a cold shower tearing up £50 notes" at least we are staying dry, and the chilled wine is in the fridge.

Good to see you've kept your sense of humour.
Hopefully all this will soon be consigned to the bin labelled "dim and distant past" tucked away under the box of "what a brilliant time we're having".

Lets never park next to each other, the combined gloom would drag down the entire camp site :)

Hopefully you will be like us now, he says looking for wood to touch, taps forehead and continues...

No major issues for us for well over 12 months (y)(y) at some point everybody's luck has to improve (y)(y)

'Experience is something you get just after you needed it'.

Which is as much help as the locals in Cornwall when you're camping in continuous rain and they tell you it was lovely last week.

Fingers crossed for you.

P'raps you'd care to publish your holiday dates then. I had more than a couple of tenting holidays with my two young sons (Cornwall, Lake District....) when it rained day and night for a week. One year we had 10 days on The Lizard in now't but chilly, wet, misty, grey Cornish clag. It's no wonder they invented hot pasties; they were the highlight of our stay. These days we have moules marinières.

Well if you WILL go to The Lizard... Most southerly point on mainland UK, nearest the equator, what can you expect but mizzle???

We had a week in Cornwall and it only rained twice. Once for three days and once for four days......

We had a week in Cornwall one May - after 6 days we decided we'd had enough and booked out. Whilst we were doing so it stopped raining

And started snowing.

And (some of) you guys (the ones in the know) wonder why we're selling the house in Cornwall & buying one on the Isle of Skye!!! It's 'cause the weather's better on Skye

That's the great thing about this forum. Whenever bad things happen, and you think "Why me?", you only have to read a few posts here to realise that other poor sods are having it just as bad as you, if not worse.
