We stay here when we are going to BC Motorhomes, got to it today to find a height barrier has been installed. Previously it was an open area but then large concrete blocks were used to restrict access, it’s the car park for Loudoun Hill. It is an important location in Scottish history as two battles were fought here during the wars of Independence, it also features the Spirit of Scotland sculpture. We have previously met foreign tourists who had come to see it in their campers, I will be contacting East Ayrshire council to ask why the car park has been closed to everything but cars.

It's a disgrace but nothing less than I would expect from East Ayrshire council.
wont make any difference to the dogging, they are mostly in low height vehicles.

We made a phone call and got somewhere a bit closer to Prestwick. 😁

They did the same at the Barony A Frame..
Now, if you want to visit this mining heritage site you have 2 choices...
Park on side of very busy road or endure a fairly lengthy walk...
