Have any funsters stayed overnight here lately for the Portsmouth ferry?
Last time we stayed (2020) our van was swamped by certain people heading for the uk. Eventually we had to drive into the secure area at the port.

I’m assuming you mean Ouistreham near Caen. We gave up on the port aire years ago. Recommend Hermanville-sur-Mer. Just down the road (15 mins) and free of ‘peoples’.

We intended to stay overnight a few years ago as we had an early sailing the next morning but decided to pay £40 extra and sail on the overnight one instead.

Thanks. Haven't got my spelling fingers on, in a rush

We used it 2 years ago to return from France with no issue whatever. Had a decent meal in the terminal even though we had a late (11p.m.) sailing.

Much prefer Villers-Bocage 30 mins to the port and you can fuel and last mins shop free of worry and a relaxing final evening in France. Nice village as well

Because we live fairly close to Portsmouth we tend to use the 16:30 crossing, so can't answer your question, but for what it's worth we saw noticeably less would-be travellers last time we came through in September.

Also recommend Hermanville-sur-Mer - the bakery next to the Aire opens at 7am so we stock up with loads of bread for to take home for the freezer, then a 15 min drive back to the port for the 8.30 am crossing. There are good photos of the Aire on the Google map link.
