Swift Escape Compact
Hi all. I have a 2019 Swift Escape Compact C205. I filled up my fresh tank and water system today with a view to checking all is still good after being drained down since November last year. Anyway, charged the Fresh Water tank up, turned on the Swift Command panel, tapped on the water icon and it brought up this panel showing that the fresh water tank was 75% full which was fine but the Waste water tank was also 75% full AND it had this orange flashing circle around the centre of the icon!! See the video clip.

Now, I knew it wasnt 75% full as I had drained the whole system down a couple of months ago but I tapped the "Empty Waste" tab anyway, and I could hear the valve opening, went out side to have a look and sure enough there was nothing coming out except a tiny, tiny trickle. Decided to pump some more into the Waste tank from the Fresh tank that I had just filled up. Watched the dials until the Fresh tank had dropped by 25% then turned the pump and tap off. The Waste was still showing 75% with the flashing interior orange circle. Then the icon started to flit from 75% down to 50% the back to 75 then up to 100% full then back to 75% again! Weird. Anyway, I activated the Empty Waste Water icon and went outside to check and sure enough the flow increased as expected as it dumped the fresh water I had just pumped in.

Hmmm, ok. So I went indoors and had a search on here to see if anyone had reported similar. There were plenty of comments regarding how inside the Waste tank are four rods that measure the waste water level inside of the tank and that they may have dried out and got a coating of crud around them which are now causing a false reading. Many suggested getting underneath the van, unscrewing the access cap in the bottom of the tank and, somehow, get your arm or hand inside with nail brush or similar and give these rods a good scrub to remove any dried on build up, Well, without a trolley jack and axle stands that wasnt going to happen. Next, I saw a few comments on using washing machine or dishwasher tabs, pre dissolved in a jug of hot water and poured down the plug hole and therefore into the waste tank. Ok, I thought, I will give that ago. Thoroughly dissolved a couple of Tesco's finest dishwasher tabs in a jug of hot water then, after they had dissolved completely, poured the lot down the sink and bathroom sink plug holes. Left the whole lot to stand for an hour with some more water I had pumped from the Fresh tank to the Waste Tank via the taps thus raising the waste water tank level to around half. The dials now both showed 75% full, which I believed about the fresh water but not the waste, however the flashing orange circle was still there, doing its thing, in the Waste Water icon.

Took the van out for a spin for an hour over some roads I would normally avoid due to the surface being pretty rough and uneven but that would be good for getting some movement going with the water inside the waste tank.

Got home and checked the panel, no change. Right, time to dump the lot I thought, so discharged both water tanks at the same time. Went outside and watched them both discharge to a trickle then stop, went back inside and checked the control panel

Ah ha!! The waste now showed empty, so the tabs must have done the trick BUT......... the flashing orange inner circle in the Waste icon is still there and still flashing!! See the video clip.

Anyone know what the issue is that is, or could be, that is causing this orange circle to appear and flash?

Any comments and answers would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Rick.

Try pressing the levels button see if it resets

Have you pressed the cancel emptying tank button. Light generally flashes when it's pressed to empty.

Well, went back to check this afternoon and all is back to normal! No flashing orange circles and both tanks reading empty as they should do. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
