I found red cross terrible for this, they must have spent more on sending me begging letters than I gave them in the first place. The ones that annoy me is when you are supporting someone or an event for charity. You put in say £50 then they ask for more.![]()
I remember a few years ago my mam getting very upset and stressed with the torrent of begging letters from the donkey sanctuary. Even though she had been contributing for years. They just wanted more and more. It was shocking the guilt they try to put onto people to pay even more.I found red cross terrible for this, they must have spent more on sending me begging letters than I gave them in the first place.
No more.
A lot of smaller charities probably aren't as aggressive and don't employ paid fundraisers trying to get people to sign up for regular payments which they get a commission on. The choir I sing in tonight are doing a charity concert for refugees and asylum seekers there won't be any of the money donated being taken by paid fundraising.I have started popping into St Lukes Hospice charity shop in the village to pop £5 or £10 note into the jar on the counter.
They get a bit confused as i ain't bought owt.
All other beggers can do one.
I keep getting texts about betting tips. I am quite expert at reporting and blocking phone numbers these daysMrs Maison keeps getting texts from “Muslim Aid” requesting donations. We don’t have a clue why, or how they got her number.
Each time we block the number but we just get texts from a different number, been going on for two years.
I have tried every YouTube suggestion for how to stop it permanently on iPhone with no luck. All we can do is keep deleting/blocking as they come in.
That sounds like gift aid. We cleared our loft in January and took a huge amount to the charity shop. I signed up for gift aid (as a tax-payer). This was before I found out that it means, if the shop receives more in tax back than you pay in tax, you are liable for the difference. I did some maths and realised I won't pay tax this year, so I emailed the charity to be removed. We won't do monthly donations. Prefer to take stuff we could easily sell to local hospice shop. We have barcode tag they label every item and we get a letter saying how much we raised for them. Makes it rewarding.
Won't give to national charities as they are experts at wasting money, employing directors on stupidly high salaries. Salvation Army excepted their directors have very low saleries.

Dont get off the bus while its movingHere is a tip.... don't run with scissors.
Just got back from the concert. The trustees of the charity don't take any payments. They had a raffle the prizes were either donated by local businesses or by the trustees of the charity out of their own pockets. All the money raised goes to the cause they support in this case asylum seekers and refugees. It's like charities used to be before a lot became big businesses.A lot of smaller charities probably aren't as aggressive and don't employ paid fundraisers trying to get people to sign up for regular payments which they get a commission on.
