Malibu 640
I was due to pick up my new motorhome last week, however although the dealer tells me it's ready, they are now waiting for the Certificate of Conformity from Malibu who in turn are waiting for it from Fiat. The dealer has offered to deliver the van to me (on payment for the van) but I won't be able to drive it until the certificate comes through which they estimate will be week 52. I really don't understand what's causing the delay. But I suppose I will be able to familiarise my self with it whilst waiting.

Malibu are normally spot on with this information, we very rarely have any issues when we register ours.

Once they have been paId they have little incentive to chase documentation .reading some of the stories on here od be careful. Also check if you would have valid insurance before agreeing to anything .
Be patient difficult I know

All delivery delays are frustrating at the moment. At least yours has arrived mines just gone backwards again 😡
Get the dealer to deliver the van but hang on registering it for another week and have it as 1st reg Jan 23 rather than Dec 22

Surely it means it will not have any insurance on it as it won’t be registered, big risk if anything goes wrong.

NFU insured my van on the VIN number when I drove it home from the tunnel and had it on my drive while I registered it.

At least if you have the van you can start to sort bits out.

Just say to the dealer you will hold £10k back until it’s registered that will make him chase.

Good luck.

Please is there a new requirement to present a CoC to enable registration?

I always thought that a converters CoC was all that was needed without the Fiat one.

I am surprised DVLA even know what a CoC is.

I expect the dealer would be pleased to get shot of it to free up some space (and have your money).
I wouldn't agree to take it until all documentation is correct and complete.

When registering an old tractor , you have to have insurance on it before dvla will give you a registering number.
It just goes by the engine number till then.

Last year our Itineo motorhome was delivered to the dealers mid-December, we were told it could not be registered until they received the CoC. This was eventually supplied by Rapido 3 months later........at least we got a 22 registration plate instead of a 71 registration.

Forgot to say, the dealer would not supply the vehicle without the CoC & we would not have accepted it anyway without it being registered.

Have you got the " CoC " from the Caravan council ? UK people. Without this , DO NOTHING. We are and were in this trap. DO NOTHING. Turns out it is the Converter who is " Alleged " to have not had it UK/Certified passed.
It has cost time and money to get it sorted . DVLA...." Van with windows " THREE times ,despite them having photos of it inside, outside and from the roof/beds up and down/awning/windows/GRAPHICS ! shower room Importing it was the next part of the nightmare ,as the rules had changed due to the Converter/DVLA.
DO NOTHING...OK? let them sort it Fiat? and/or the Converter. Get that bit of paper first.

Hi.
A PS to the above post.... From NEW,picked up at the converters yard,it has had the " Blue Caravan council ? " Plastic motif on the side door.
That seems to mean nothing without the paper Certificate......................

Pay nothing and be patient. Once they have your money they may just drag there heels. After 40 years of this motorhome game I still don't trust many dealers.

Lots of good advice as always - Thank you.

I have been provided with a registration number, so I assume that it has been with DVLA ? I'll get an update today from the dealer.
