The sosta in Scilla is positioned high up on a flat plateau. The view across the Messina straights to Scilla is so interesting with all manor of ships and boats to watch with your binos. Best of all was the Spadare boats that criss cross the straights hunting swordfish, that migrate north from May to September.
There are spotters high up (perhaps 10 mtrs)on a vertical beam looking for the Xiphias gladius, whilst the horizontal beam is where the guy with the harpoon shoots from.
The village itself is certainly worth a visit, particularly beyond the harbour. The swordfish tasted wonderful.
