I'm a newbie
Our Omnistor awning is 'clunking' when winding in and apparently it is the gearing mechanism slipping/faulty which is common? The part is available, but before ordering, has anyone changed theirs? Is it a DIY job or a leave it to an expert job? Anything to be careful of? My OH is a mechanic so is willing to do it but thought better to ask before I present him with the gift of a gearing mechanism! 🤣:thanks3:

Had exactly the same problem in Portugal with my Omnistor awning on the first day of a 6 week stay. Came to wind the awning in and the gearbox had failed and it was only 4 years old. Had to get an engineer out and wound it in by the end nut being wound by hand and it took 4 people to get it back in. Gather talking to the engineer it is not a do it yourself job. Would find a local dealer to replace.

Thank you. I have bought the gearbox but have found a local awning supplier who is willing to fit it for us even though I did not buy it from him which is helpful. Will report back when done👍
