Omni step inop

Hi all, I have a Bessacarr E635 2008 the omni step stopped working. Worked fine earlier today but once home it will not come out. The button is bleeping and it showing on panel as working but it isn't.
Any ideas please?

Not familiar with that exact step but you can try.....

Measure voltage at motor directly - will highlight a breaking down connection if not 12+ volts.
Cogs in gearbox can lose lube over the years and teeth wear down - on many you can open it and flip a cog 180 degrees to use unmolested teeth.
Get a spare 12v supply or leads from battery and apply power direct to motor - this tells you if controller circuit is broken.

I have a vague memory of someone finding a snapped rivet locking the step.....
